I ordered an item using a $55 gift card imputed into a newly made account. Amazon denied my order and said I didn’t own the gift card, when I in fact did SINCE I BOUGHT IT EARLIER THAT DAY. They told me to send proof that I owned it, all I could provide was the bill sent to my debit card because I threw away the receipt and the used card, like a normal person. They said this wasn’t enough and closed my account. I was infuriated and called them up, and they helped me and sent me a follow up, asking to verify my card, and I did that. No response after that whatsoever. I called them again and they said they’d contact me in 24 hours. Again nothing after days. ANOTHER call and they once again promised to contact me after a day. Surprise surprise, NOTHING! What should I do? Amazon took my funds and closed my account, all I have is the order number for my item in my email. They never shipped me anything either.

This is a customer forum for getting help using Amazon branded digital devices and systems such as Alexa.
You want customer service. If it was a third party gift card it might have been counterfeit or stolen. But you need to work this out with Amazon. If you bought it from Amazon, the order will be in your account. If you bought it elsewhere, well, nothing to be done if you threw things away and it's a bogus card.
If it is bogus, your gripe is with the place you bought it from. Good luck. (NO sarcasm of any sort intended.)
NOTE: I do NOT speak for or represent Amazon in any fashion. This is a customer to customer forum.

Since you threw away your gift card and receipt there is really nothing that you can do. You should never throw those away until the card has been used in it's entirety and has a zero balance. Not just redeemed but actually used to buy things. I usually keep mine for 30 days after I've fully used it. There is a reason why gift cards state that they should be treated like cash. Without the physical card and the receipt there is absolutely no way to prove ownership of that specific card. There is no way to prove that that card's serial number was purchased by you or that it was activated (both show up on the receipt). Unfortunately your CC statement is not good enough as it does not contain the card's serial numbers or prove of activation. There is nothing wrong in what Amazon has done.
You can try to go back to the store where you bought it and try to get a refund from them. Bring them your CC statement and your emails from Amazon. Keep in mind that, again, without a receipt and the actual card they don't have any obligation to do a refund either since there is no physical evidence that links that specific card to that specific CC purchase. All you can do it hope that they will make an exception for you.
My best guess as to what happened is that the retailer either never activated the card, or someone stole a bunch of cards and the store reported a range of serial numbers as stolen w/o first checking to see if they had sold any of them prior to the theft.
But the thing is, it worked, all $55 was loaded into my account. Amazon just thought I was violating some unspoken code somehow. Now I can't get them to email me, even though their tech supports have already escalated my issue.

Doesn't matter. This is not the proper place and other customers can do nothing for you. This isn't a general hep forum and no one here has access to your account info, not even the Moderators.
Whatever problem there is with the gift card, or your account, it is between you and Amazon.

Post your issue to their FB page and condense the issue to fit into a tweet to Amazon's Twitter. That usually gets someone's attention. It's worth a try anyway - good luck!
I got the receipt back by the way and sent it to them. No response back whatsoever.
Still not the right place. To be blunt, I do not think anyone cares about this situation as no on here knows the truth of things and it's not relevant to the purpose of the forum. Contact an attorney if you feel Amazon has done you wrong.
If it helps, Amazon moves very slowly in sorting this stuff out. I take no sides but even if you are as right as rain it may take weeks to remedy. Good luck, and I truly do not mean sarcasm with that.
