I'm having the same problem as a lot of you guys on here are having, some films play in widescreen and some are stretched to 16:9 ratio,
I started a live chat with a samsung rep, and allowed them 'Remote Access' to my tv which did nowt to help with the problem were all having, the only thing they did manage to do was lose my picture and sound settings.
WARNING: Make a note of any/all settings you have as you may lose them if you allow them remote access to your tv, i did.
The samsung rep said there was no problem with my tv and that it must be the amazon video app that's at fault and to contact amazon.
I then did a live chat with an amazon rep and went through the usual steps they tell you to try and solve the problem with no luck, the rep then went away to check the problem and came back a few minutes later saying that their software engineers know of the problem and that it'll be fixed within 48 hrs, that was two days ago and the problem still hasn't been fixed as i'm watching right now 'The house with a clock in its walls', which of all the films that i've seen in the wrong ratio the worst looking one.
Also note i am signing in and out of amazon video app before trying, as i was told this would be necessary by amazon rep.
I believe you put a list of things to do update TV firmware etc I've tried all that so hopefully you wont put the same things up again and it be something new , personally I think app needs updating to sync properly with Samsung tvs.
Just registered to say I'm in the UK and having the exact same problem - tried watching John Wick 2 last night on my Samsung UE55ks8000 (I think) and the aspect ratio was messed up. Really hope they fix this soon as never had this problem before with anything on Prime.
I registered on this forum just to log that I have the same problem with my Samsung 65” UHD. I discovered it when I rented a film yesterday and found the aspect ratio to be content removed. Looking at prime films and the Outlander series which I have watched gave the same results. No problem with Netflix, Rakuten or any of the uk catch up players. I got a refund for the rental film but trying to get an answer from their helpline was impossible. Once I was put through to the “video helpline” from the first call screening, I had to explain what aspect ratio was. Then I was told that they were not aware of the problem. Then I was asked to run through a basic load of stuff starting with turning off the tv and router, which I did not want to do. I insisted I spoke to the next level. I was given the impression that this was the first time they had heard of the problem, so I pointed the call handler to this site. The handler admitted that he could see there was a pattern and that my call would be registered. OK.... so far a waste of 90 minutes.....why not just watch Netflix and let Amazon eventually sort the issue that is obviously a problem with their app and Samsung’s operating system........ because it is not just about the £8 a month I spent on the TV service, it’s about the £200 a month I spend on Amazon just because I am a prime member. Prime TV is a clever marketing ploy to encourage the members to buy on Amazon shopping. I have asked for a personal e mail to be sent to me after the weekend that acknowledges this problem and that it will be sorted out quickly. Let’s see if I get one.
We're also having this issue. Netflix, Hulu other apps all have correct aspect ratio.
Amazon streaming no longer has the black bars necessary to maintain aspect ratio and is now stretched. We were very busy and only noticed a few days ago, but it could easily have been a couple of weeks.
Hey there, also here in Germany the same problem. Yesterday i bought Guardians of the Galaxy and had the Problem that there were no bars anymore The movie is completly in a false aspect ratio. Completly unwatchable like this. Most movies are now that way, nearly all my movies i purchased. Also in all other apps on my Samsung TV there is no problem at all with the aspect ratio. No need to go further into detail because we all have this Problem. Please fix this asap!
Exact same issue. Have tried everything . Amazon on this Tv only. Samsung . Extremely irritating and impossible to watch without a headache. Amazon . Why am I paying for this? It’s been this way for over a week. All other tv provider apps work fine.
