All (or any?) authoritative sources? or just chatter around & about?
In case you haven't heard, the web if just chock-a-block with misinformation, misunderstood information, downright false information, and outright lies. Especially when it comes to complaints & conspiracy theories.
Now, I hope you have gone & bought all the *other* books-by-favorite-authors that you've been KU-borrowing instead, or hoping they'd (still) be on KU (which is by no means assured for any book on a forever basis).
If I had known Amazon was going to cancel Madison Faye I would have bought my favorites. As of Alexa Riley I would have bought more of her books. Yet without a notice I lost my opportunity.
and that is why I don't borrow books, I buy them. People who bought those books from Amazon can still download them. Even if they were still listed on Amazon, they could still have been pulled from Kindle Unlimited.

Just as with "free" streaming: You don't own it and it can go away any time you like. I have discs close on twenty years old for movies no longer available in any form but I can watch them when and as I please.

I still have an old VHS player as well as some special tapes which I long since ripped to digital & put on DVDs so all the relatives could have their own copies of the Old Family Films -- inherited from Grandpa on many reels of 16mm film, converted by the Photo Store (expen$ively!) to VHS), and dating from the 1920's. Did get rid of the films, splicer, etc years ago, though. :-)
yes, I do and for audio, we still have an 8-track, multiple turntables and a reel to reel player as well. When we were selling items on eBay, laser disk opera recording were very much in demand for the sound quality
I lost a beautiful Akai reel to reel to storm flooding in a below grade garage about ten years back. Still got a Technics turntable, the linear tracking kind but no place to set it. Got a few hundred 12" in storage in the garage. Some of which have never come out on CD, the rest I should pass on to someone or sell.

It's the end of October and her books are still MIA. What the hell, Amazon??
You need to talk to the publisher. Amazon can't sell the books if the publisher doesn't make them available to Amazon to sell. What did the publisher say when you asked them?

You seem to feel Amazon has some legal or moral obligation to carry books they do not wish to. What is your logic for this? I shall be fascinated to hear your arguments on this subject as they would seem to run contrary to how businesses and people work under our retail systems.
And you have definitely missed the many many people telling posters such as yourself that this is a customer forum and you need to ask Amazon about such things. Not that they will tell you as that is none of your (or my) business or indeed anyone else's as to why or why not they choose to carry/not carry any item or book they choose.
If the author is not wiling or energetic enough to start selling via a web page/Facebook directly and get 100% of whatever sales she gets as opposed to Amazon taking a hefty cut, not a lot anyone can do for her. She's been wasting months if not taking advantage of all the ways to sell directly.
And as one comedian got famous for saying: 'You can't fix (that problem)."

ours is an Akai also. For reel to reel recordings, some of the most desirable are early rock and roll ones, ditto for 78s

not gonna work if Amazon has removed their books for some reason and I think the author is self-published
