I know there is no way to get a refund from Amazon, but I did a $40 purchase & never received my in-game item. How to I go about handling this? The customer service for the game is pretty much non-existent. Anyone?
First, check with Amazon customer service (Help>>Need More Help>>Contact Us) to make sure it was properly credited to your account. If it was, you'll need to contact the game app developers or their customer support. If you are having trouble finding that info (check the game's product page or try Google), you can post a link to the game's product page (or, at the very least, post the name of the game and who the app developer is) and one of us volunteers (or Forum Moderators have been a great help in that regard, from what I've seen) may be able to help you track down the proper info.
