3D badges are now showing up on Amazon Music iOS app now. I just updated to Version 126.96.36.199.183. When you PLAY them, they are only in HD. I know iPhone X's are Dolby Atmos compatible so I got a little excited. When you click on about 3D, it just gives you a page that says you need an Amazon Echo Studio... I'd buy one if I could output it to my A/V system, but it only has a combination 3.5 mm/mini-optical Toslink input, no digital output. FAIL.
I am not interested in the Dolby stuff. I would just like the highest resolution possible. I see that the HD service has 16 bit 44.1khz sample rate files at 850 kb speed streaming, but the CD standard needs 1,411 kb . So that is NOT high definition. or even cd quality. What compression does this HD use?
I can't be the only one that thinks recording in Atmos but only making it available on Estudio would be like producing 4k video and only allowing it to be viewed on a 1980s black and white TV. I also think the one positive is the higher quality audio on convenience platforms like Amazon, Spotify, etc is fairly new. With that in mind I would imagine it's only a matter of time before they make it more widely available (or a competitor does).
