The Carplay interface is seriously buggy and almost useless at this point.
Hardware: 2018 Acura TLX
Phone: iPhone 11 Pro Max iOS 13.2 (all of these issues have been present for all versions of 13 and some in 12.x)
Often, probably 4 out of 10 CarPlay sessions, the app just crashes - on the CarPlay display and the app on the phone
Recent list is always empty, or never loads - sometimes there is a spinner
Nearly always when I go into My Playlists it flashes the screen and tries to load the list of playlists - sometimes it does sometimes it just stops and I have to do it again. Sometimes it loads the list
When I select one of my playlists, 3 things can happen. 1) it goes into the playlist and I can select an action and everything is fine 2) Sometimes it starts playing a different playlist 3) about 30% of the time it gives me a "content not available error" and I have to start over
Randomly the UI goes blank and I cannot continue in the app on CarPlay until I force quit the app on my phone, which is dangerous on a long drive
Many actions that used to be fast on iOS 12 are now really, really slow or don't complete at all on iOS 13.x
Often I can be listening to a song on my phone, get in the car, connect to CarPlay and Amazon Music has no clue that I was just listening to a song. Other times it pick up right where I left off, which is expected behavior
I pay extra for the Unlimited and CarPlay is my primary UX - I feel I am not getting the value for what I am paying and I am considering going to Apple Music or Spotify if things don't improve soon.
Seriously buggy is right. I've been experiencing the same problems and finally gave up. My frustration led me to sign up for both apple music and spotify, since both offer free 90 day trials. I ended up choosing spotify premium, and soon I will be cancelling my amazon unlimited. As the previous poster mentioned, I just can't pay for something that malfunctions every time I use it. Btw, both spotify and apple music performed flawlessly on my carplay.
