I've noticed that a lot of the photos that were automatically tagged using the facial recognition feature were incorrectly grouped (specifically my two children who do look somewhat similar were not always grouped to the correct child's People 'Tag'). Is it possible to untag and manually tag them so that I can get them grouped together correctly?
Along those same lines, when I go to the 'People' view I'm seeing several photos grouped together that I'd rather not tag/name at all because there just isn't going to be more than two or three photos of them anyway. These ones still say 'Who's this'. Is there a way to just remove these from the 'People' view altogether or to indicate that I'm not wanting to tag them? I'm currently using Chrome for Mac. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Apparently they're rolling out tagging support so that people or things and maybe locations can be tagged or untagged. I was told right now it's being added to new prime photo accounts first, presumably to give them a chance to work out the kinks before giving it to the heavy users. I came across this tidbit accidentally because I was given support instructions that we premature. The rollout should start hitting the rest of us in January.
Good question. I am having same problem. I know that doesn't help, but wanted the Amazon people to know someone else having same problem. Better get on this or Google is gonna win!
Agreed. With family photos facial similarity is common - especially with children. It will be essential to have the ability to modify an incorrect “tag” on photos.
1) Regarding the wrong facial recognition, I'm waiting for Amazon to fix the issue. The sooner, the better! Hope they're reading this...
2) Regarding the problem mentioned by mowerpower, I created a group called "bulk" where I group all the pictures I'm not interested in being grouped under a particular name.
I just started using this feature of Prime this week, glad to hear this will be corrected. I cringed when I realized I could not fix the incorrect tags...
I researched photo storage because Dropbox has become too cumbersome - seems Dropbox is intentionally getting out of photo storage. I picked Amazon Prime over Google based on a CNET article or blog. The People feature is important to me, and facial ID is highly promoted here, yet it is terribly limited. I can't wait until January. I'm trying to make albums and gifts. Before I searched for a solution here I wasted a lot of time because I could not figure out how to fix misnamed people nor why there are so few faces listed when I click on "People."
Adding my support here for Amazon to update the prime Photos to allow changes to tags. I'm on the fence about keeping Amazon prime. The free photo storage and image recognition capabilities are swaying me to stick with it vs. looking for an alternative. However, I definitely need the ability to fix mistakenly tagged photos. I'll stick with it into January and look forward to the coming updates.
Agree with group on the need to fix this, and have another suggestion on this feature. PLEASE when you allow to disaggregate/ungroup a person's pics, instead of forcing a manual tag, maybe have the user tag the correct person in several pictures so the facial ID gets better, and then tags them correctly? Would hate to have to manually tag thousands of pics. Looking forward to improvements!
Like others I have just started using Amazon Photos and really need to be able to correct errors with the image recognition. Also, I would like to know how to delete junk and duplicate photos from the storage.
Yes! Please give us the ability to manually tag people and fix the incorrectly tagged ones. Our two sons look very similar so we have lots of wrong face ID.
Yes, please fix this you brilliant amazonians! I believe amazon photos could be a robust storage solution for so many if this tagging issue were rectified. The way it operates now, with its gross limitations, only leaves us frustrated all the while dangling the carrot of hope in our face that one day soon it will improve and be all the we want, need and believe it could be.
Same problem. I like the general organization better than Google Photo, but with all the incorrect facial recognition assignments, this is a show stopper if they don't fix it.

At this time, you can group (combine), but can’t ungroup. From the Organizing People Groups help page, it notes:
“Note: If a person is grouped incorrectly or if you accidentally combine the wrong images there is not a way to correct the incorrect tag.”
There also isn’t a way to remove photos from the “Find People, Place and Things” feature (other than to remove them from Prime Photos).

I've had the same problem with my Grandchildren and have sent feedback via the Photos App, but am also adding my request here also.

Me too, am having the same problems.

Any more ideas?
@Damien, that's a good idea
Hopefully when Amazon introduce more features to this section, they could perhaps have an 'ignore' tag.
Same problem here. Please fix this!

Becoming a huge issue for me, my grandsons look to much alike for the program. If the don’t fix this soon I’ll go back to my old cloud 😥

Having same issues as well. Sons look alike and are being tagged in the wrong photos. Really need the feature to fix this.

Yes - same issue for me with facial recognition - otherwise it is a fantastic service so would be great to see this functionality added!
