No, you sure can't. You did not answer the question at all - you merely pointed to the generic instructions on how to create an album and then pointed to the separate generic instructions on how to enable the family vault and add singular photos to them. Did you read the question posted?
The correct answer is: no, you can't. This is a huge oversight on the family vault aspect - what good is it if I can't share my organized albums with family and instead only photos sorted by date?
I was excited about moving key photos to this new service, and there are thousands of them. Do they really think we are going to check every single one of them to move to a vault vs. clicking an album and moving it over?
The space is cheap enough to rent, but to leave out this key feature clearly shows programmers who do not use the features they are programming! And, as is so typical in today's programming world, leaving out their target audience: The End User and paying Prime member.
In the meantime, if you want an incredibly clunky workaround, which you may or may not think is better than nothing:
Open the album and "share" it (or portions of it by using Select) by sending an email to yourself and your Family Vault members. Change the subject line to the name of the album.
That way, even tho the pics won't show in the Vault, from the link in the email they can open and look at the album and do whatever you can normally do when you receive pics or an album that have been shared.
And they can bookmark the page the link goes to, naming it the same as the album. And make a bookmarks folder, Family Vault Albums, or something, to put them all in. Then to open an album again, tap that bookmark.
See, clunky, but the pics are accessible as a group and you don't have to add each one separately to the vault. If you add pics to or delete from the album, that same original link will go to the updated album.
Every time I post one of these clunkers that I use, somebody finds holes in it or comes up with better ideas, so I hope that'll happen here.
Seriously? I have just spent an age creating a holiday album precisely so that I could share it in the family vault. Isn't this just about the single most obvious thing you would want to do...? I despair.
Well, it turns out that at least you can select all the photos in the album (using the usual Shift+ method) then "Add to Family Vault" at the top of the page... but then they are just piled in as they were created and your carefully curated album disintegrates. Better than nothing.
Hello everyone - sorry about the confusion here in this thread! You are all correct, you can not directly add an existing album to Family Vault. However, if you open the album in Prime Photos, then select all the photos in that album at once, you can then add them to the Family Vault in one action. On the website, you would click Share from the blue bar at the top of the screen, then Family Vault. In the app, select Menu (three dots) then Add to Family Vault.
If anyone would like to leave feedback on this feature, you can do so here.
Hi, i agree. I didn't notice if this work around was mentioned: Create a new Group (ie. Family Vault Albums), Invite all Family Vault members to this new Group, Select an existing Album, Add the Album to the new Group. Also, can Add Album from the new Goup to add an existing Album. This helps me. Hope this makes sense and helps.
Bought four firesticks this Christmas for the grandparents. The plan is to use Amazon Photos through the firestick to show pictures that I would place in their family vaults. Now I find out that you can't move an album into the vault, so I will need to go in and hand select EVERY photo that I want to move into the vault. Since I have over 50,000 pictures in my personal photo drive, that's a lot of clicking! It seems crazy that Amazon doesn't have a way to place different albums that I have created into the Family Vault! Any hope that this feature is added soon?
