This is crazy that Amazon has known about this issue for THIS long and has not added the feature or even responded to the problem with WHY the feature can not be added. It appears to be kind of random which people were picked up in my photos by the process. Clear images of people can't be tagged and blurred images are trying to be tagged?
Adding yet another voice. Was hoping to switch to Amazon for photo storage, but noticed these issues right away. And c'mon Amazon - where are you? An issue reported years ago and by so many should at least warrant an update to your customers.
After 2+ years of no resolution to this, at this point if there isn't going to be a fix it would be most helpful to just remove the feature altogether. This is a basic function of any Photo App so don't see why AMAZON can't get it straighten out.
I like this feature being able to find all the photos of someone quickly. Half of the time it does really good job and it's able to group photos of someone. The other half, it does a really bad job. Sometimes, it groups photos under someone and some of the photos don't even have any people in those. Being able to fix those wrong tags will be really great. Once you have created tags and albums on one service, it's like an investment. It will be harder to leave a service. Amazon should priortise this as a very important feature to keep the users on this platform. There are so much competition on cloud hosting services right now. If Amazon wants to keep its customers they need to listen to customers more than right now.
In the EU, facial recognition is a hot potato in terms of the GDPR legislation (essentially privacy law with great big teeth that can fine companies up to 4% of turnover just for starters. The EU takes this VERY seriously as the giant fines levied show)
maybe Amazon are aware that any changes it makes MUST comply (Facebook now asks you about it instead of doing it by default - they didn’t fancy a $4bn fine) and to make their software work everywhere they need to tread very carefully and initiate robust controls.
This is a thread I've been watching for a very long time. It is disappointing Amazon doesn't address this seemingly simple request to manually edit people tagged in photos.
With that said, a new problem in this area just surfaced for me and our families photos I did not anticipate. We had a second child recently who looks extremely similar to my first child at that age. So what is Amazon facial recognition doing? Calling Baby #2 photos Baby #1, no way I can do a thing about it either. They look so similar, I get why a computer algorithm would do this, but this is why we need editing capabilities of this tag. Got me thinking that identical twins must really hate this feature!
Amazon, I think your photo app is great where my wife and I can easily consolidate our family photos taken on multiple devices (mostly phones) into a single space. Can you please address this Person editing feature that is missing?
I have just started using Amazon photos and it looks like Amazon did not put any thought in how people would use their program. You can't untag photos in fascial recognition and the whole program is not user friendly. I have read many of the posts regarding tagging surely you would have sorted it out by now. Please inform us when you are going to update.
I keep checking back since the beginning of Amazon Photos and I am so aggravated that the photo recognition correction issue has not been solved. I have 43000 photos of which tons (too many to count) are incorrectly identified. I spoke with someone at least two years ago, and was told that they were working on it..........
