You can connect several smart home devices to your Echo device so you can control them with your voice. Before starting make sure the smart device is compatible with Amazon Echo. You may also need to follow setup instructions for the device, so be sure to check any relevant information from the manufacturer.
To use smart home devices with Alexa, you need to enable the skill for the device in the Alexa app. You may also need to link your account with the device manufacturer or service provider to Alexa.
To connect a smart home device to Alexa:
Open the Alexa app, go to the menu, and select Smart Home.
Select Devices, then open the Alexa Smart Home Store.
Browse or enter search keywords to find the skill for your device, then select Enable Skill.
Note: If there isn't a skill for your device or service, it may not be compatible with Alexa. If it is compatible, try the "Discovering smart home Devices without a Skill" steps below.
If prompted, sign in or create an account with the smart home device manufacturer or service provider. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the linking process.
After you finish enabling the skill for your smart home device, Alexa needs to discover it. You can start the discovery process by selecting Discover from the Alexa app (go to the menu and select Smart Home > Devices > Discover). Or, just tell Alexa to "discover devices."
