In the past 48 hours I have been unable to create new routines that are triggered by smarthome devices such as Ring motion sensors:
Error >>> '“There was a problem creating this routine”''
This has not been a problem before and I have tried all the commonly suggested remedies (many google searches) such as rebooting my router, deleting/re-installing the alexa app, disabling skills, etc. The problem is occuring on all my many Apple iOS mobile devices. There are no error logs to review myself (my job is Linux/Web tech support) so this is extremely frustrating.
Hopefully this is a known issue and someone can lend some suggestions on how to fix the problem with routines.
*Note from the Moderators: Hi! This issue in this post is Resolved. Thanks so much!
This is an issue with the latest Alexa app update. I could not make a routine involving a SmartThinks motion sensor update on iPhone XS. Then, I try it on an older iPhone 6S and it worked as expected. The difference was that the iPhone XS had the latest version of the Alexa app installed and the iPhone 6S had the version before the latest. Now, just wait for Amazon to fix the problem and issue a new update.
I have a smart life door sensor which I have linked to a smart life light switch which controls my garden lights. I had a routine set up that when the rear door is opened during a certain time it switched my garden lights on. I noticed it had stopped working recently so tried deleting the routine to then set up a new one, I'm now getting the problem of not being able to set up a new routine. 😭
Smartthings zwave door sensor is working properly with alerts and routines through alexa no problem. Smart Life wifi door sensor is not working with routines at all. I cannot re-add the routine for my backdoor sensor (wifi) on my phone Android 9. I can add it on my fire tablets but the routines do not run. I have tried everything to get the routines to run with no luck. This is for my home security and really need this working properly. I guess stuck waiting on Amazon to get it fixed.
