Can someone point me to some comprehensive articles or YouTubes that help explain how to configure and name all devices, groups, etc when you have multiple locations along with what commands work locally and which once work globally. Getting the foundation correct will provide me the best functionality and usability going forward, getting the foundation wrong will require me to reconfigure everything from scratch (Yick).
Once suggesting was a unique Amazon account for each location. Another suggestion was to use groups. I have not found online resources allowing me to evaluate the various configuration options.
How do commands given at location A effect devices at location B?
What are the pros/cons of using unique Amazon accounts for each location?
What are the pros/cons of naming each nest “Nest” vs giving each a unique name “City Nest”, “Country Nest”, and “Office Nest”.
Clearly the first is simpler, but the second allows for asking the temperature of one nest when in a different location.
I have many questions like this, but instead of asking each one, Im looking for some good articles to read.
I have read that each local wifi is its own ecosystem and giving a command in location A does not effect devices in location B, however I can say “What is the temperature on the City Nest” from any location and get an answer, so clearly there is some multiple location coordination.
There is also the group function on the iPhone app allowing you to group devices.
I have found a few posts, but none are comprehensive.
