In the Alexa App on iOS, under the device setup for the Ring Doorbell 2 and Ring Spotlight Camera, the 'Something Is Not Working' error appears and the Motion Announcement toggle button is disabled so I cannot turn on Motion Announcements. Doorbell announcement toggle works OK still. Motion detection in routines works OK.
Motion announcements have been working on my Ring devices without issue until yesterday. I notice there have been several releases of the Alexa App on the app store in recent days so I wonder of something has been broken?
I have tried enabling/disabling the Ring skill and have also tried removing and rediscovering the devices. I have also tries the Android version of the Alexa app - same result - motion announcement toggle disabled and the ever helpful 'Something Is Not Working' error.
The Ring app is working correctly and motion alerts are coming through so it just appears to be a bug in the App.
Anyone else experiencing this - Amazon support - any ideas?
For me at least, this issue has now been resolved. I didn't do anything to resolve the issue, but there has been yet another release of the Alexa app in the last day, so perhaps Amazon fixed a bug in the app - it's encouraging to see Amazon updating the app so regularly.
I did also report this bug to Amazon, as well as posting here, but I got a pretty stock response from Amazon along the lines of 'did you turn everything on and off'.
