I recently bought a new Lennar home, and it comes with some Amazon-installed and supported devices. I have scheduled my activation, and then received a Pre-Activation Checklist.
On the checklist, it states:
The internet service provider's equipment must be a modem with router capabilities (also known as a gateway) and it must have more than one Ethernet port.
Before receiving this checklist, I purchased an Arris SB8200 modem. It has two Ethernet ports.
The home was installed with two Ruckus WAPs.
I should receive a Ruckus switch at activation, which I assume will be the Ruckus ICX 7150-C12P.
My question is if the Arris SB8200 will be compatible with the Ruckus equipment by itself?
If not, this leads to my next question:
I do have a router (a Netgear, possibly the AC-1750) that I currently use for wireless until the home is activated. The plan was to store it in the closet when the home was activated. If I do need a router in addition to the modem and switch; will this router be compatible, or will I need a completely different modem?
I have not heard back from Amazon Help as of yet. Any assistance would be appreciated.
The modem you have does not have router capability. If you look at Arris dot com, there is a comparison chart, and the modems they offer with built in WiFi router capabilities are listed. Your model is not one of them.
