I am trying to get my wife's Echo Show to display live video from our Ring Video Doorbell 2. The Alexa app discovers the camera and it shows up under "devices" but........it does not show up under devices in the Echo Show and when I say "Alexa show me my front door (the device name) it comes back with "Sorry I didn't find a device named front door".
If I go out the door and ring the bell the Echo show says "Motion detected at the front door, there is someone at the front door.
So......it is somehow able to deliver the motion and doorbell ring alerts but can't show me the video feed.
I've tried disabling and enabling the skill and restarting the echo show.
The other smart home devices I have (light switches and plugs) were easily discovered by the echo show and work just fine.
I'm out of things to try so any help would be appreciated.
Do you have the Echo Show and the Ring setup/registered to the same Amazon account? Also - make sure your Echo Show is fully updated. Swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings. Then go to Device Options > Check for Software Updates.
Let us know how it goes - and welcome to the forum
So......I "own" our family Amazon account. My wife is a shared user. I had set up the echo show using the primary account username and password whereas the alexa app is under my wife's username and password.
It never even occurred to me that a shared users credentials could even work.
I factory reset the echo sow this morning and used my wife's ID and password and Voila!! it works.
Thank you for getting me thinking in the right direction.
