Hy misters! For me the problem is already referee above! The echo plus is temperature check gap is to long! my suggestion is: creat a separated routine to schedule a temperature check every 2 minutes or 5 ou 10! silentelly that way it just check manually but automatically!
english is not my main la gauge but I hope u got the idea!
I have several Echo Plus 2 and recently added a Dot 3..all supposed to be temperature capable. I can ask the Dot 3 the temp and it tells me and it shows me. The dot 3 is in a group. If I ask another Alexa what the temperature is for that group, I get an error saying that device is not capable of that feature. Same for my 2 Plus units. If I try to set up a Routine as mentioned above, when I try to choose the part about the device and temperature (as that inset shows above) all that appears is a list of lights that are already configured as if I would choose sometihng like "if the light is off then..." but no reference to a device with temperature.. I cannot find a way to even set up the Routine there to ask about a temp as nothing appears about the temp anywhere in the Alexa app.
THe Dot 3 is on a different WiFi network in the house but is on the same subnet. DropIns to/from that device work find, e.g. The other 2 PLus are on the same network and each still says the others aren't capable of that feature (the temp).
WOuld appreciate any suggestion as to how to work with temperature on the Dot 3 and Plus 2 units.
Have you tried disabling Follow-up mode on said Echos?
I was having A LOT of frustration with some of my routines. They just were not working until I came across these tips online (can't remember where, though) and proceeded to disable follow-up mode on the Echo that was supposed to trigger the routines. I also changed the name of the Echo from "Livingroom" to "Living Room" (which is the correct spelling) at the same time as I disabled Follow-up mode, following another suggestion I also found online.
I'm not exactly which one did the trick, but I think they're both worth having a look.
I am in the UK and had a similar problem. Needed a routine whereby my lounge echo plus sent a message to my bedroom show 5 if the temperature climbed above a certain level. Same issues as detailed earlier in this post. Amazon support suggested moving the device further from my router (it was around 2 feet away) Having done this it is now working.
Seriously? Moving it further away from the router solved the problem?
I am in the UK also and can't get this to work. I'm still not clear that it ever will, even if the temperature does "pass through" the set point.
In case it should really make any difference it's in a different room from the router anyway.
And if I wanted to make what is in effect a thermostat (if the Echo temperature routine feature ever does work for me - so for now I'm only talking in theory), presumably I would need two routines (one to turn on, and one to turn off) with different set points (hysteresis)?
Wished I had read this first...I purchased an echo plus for the purpose of controlling my garage heating via two zigbee sockets. Have exacly same issue...no triggering in a routine based on temperature. Wasted £180 but at least I can read the temperature and then trigger the heating manually from Alexa app without going to the garage!
