Purchased a Smart Life smart plug. Connected with Alexa. Worked fine. Now all of a sudden when I ask Alexa to turn on she says "Im Not sure what went wrong". When I go into the app it states that plug is off and server is unresponsive. Can turn on and off manually but neither my phone or Alexa will do it. Whaaa Happdend? Any ideas out there?
Thanks Kristin....but tried everything you mentioned, and still all I get now from Alexa is" Sorry your device is unresponsive. Please check its network connection and power supply". Both seem to be normal but Alexa just does not recognize. Even tried another new smart plug...didn't work either. Whadya think?
No need to respond. Kept fiddling around and found that somehow SmartLife had dumped my connection even though it did not indicate so. Went into their app and messed with it- ended up re-booting everything and Bingo, all is well once again. Thank you for all your help and attention.
Using WEMO, I was having this issue and settled it by disabling the Wemo skill and removing the devices. I at that point had Alexa find the devices without enabling the WEMO skill. Alexa no longer needs the skill empowered or enable to control the Wemo devices.
I do not know if you are still having this issue but all of my KMC devices and one off brand wall light switch are experiencing the same issue. It is my understanding there was an update that disabled all of these devices as I see many posts of this nature especially with regards to KMC. The devices however continue to function off/on normally using the KMC app but scheduling cannot be done. Samsung Smart Home devices still continue to function as designed. There was a recent update of Alexa as all of my graphical interface appears completely different.
Thanks, TicTock. I was having the same problem and had tried all of the usual solutions. So odd that commands worked from the Smart Life app but not Alexa - you would think that indicated the Wi-Fi was fine. But I re-entered my Wi-Fi information in the Smart Life app, and that did the trick.
I came home from the office last night and went to use Alexa and all of my connections are in offline mode. My two Alexa units are both working normal and connected to the internet, but not the devices programmed. I can manually turn them on and off with the SmartHome device, but no luck using the apps on my phone.
I shut my phone off and turned it back on, reprogrammed the internet on my Alexa dot, but nothing. My apartment complex recently upgraded all the units, but the Alexa devices were working fine for the first couple of days.
I've tried to re-enter the wi-fi in Smart Life app, but it doesn't seem to be taking it.
I just purchased two smart plugs- WEMO. I have them both installed and show them active on the app. Alexa recognized them, on the app, but when I ask Alexa to turn or or off, she gives me the "check you connection or power". There is a weak link, somewhere, and I can't figure it out. I have rebooted every device including the router, and the plugs. This is not for the faint of heart. Not as easy as it appears, and I'm four hours into it.
