Upgraded to PW 10th Gen with latest version of firmware. Stumbled on feature new to me under Device Options (Advanced), Storage Managemet, Quick Archive, which auto removes content from device if not opened within 1 to 12 months and there appears to be no option to disable it. What is the point of Amazon hyping the new 32g device (which can hold thousands of books) if they’re going to automatically delete content?
when you tap on Quick Archive, you will see a screen with with:
1 Year or More
and totals under them. Below that are the words:
CANCEL _______________________________ REMOVE
unless uou tap in the little circle beside one of the 4 options and it has a number under it, REMOVE is greyed out. Unless you, yourself, tap on REMOVE it will not delete anything. You have to press remove for anything to be Archived, so just press CANCEL and back out of that screen and ignore it.
Thank you for responding CBRetriever! Just to clarify, when I first set up Kindle and went to Device Options and opened the Storage Management/Quick Archive just to check it out, I didn’t tap on any circle, but there was already a circle checked for one of the 4 options. I tried tapping on it again to see if that would clear it, but no luck. And even though there was a time option circle checked, the “remove” remained greyed out. I did as you suggested...hit cancel, backed out of screen. Still worried that the circle remains checked, but will try to move on :) Thank you, again. Very helpful.
