SAME PROBLEM! Takes 5 minutes for the Kindle to reboot before I can connect to my headphones. Very difficult to listen for a few minutes, if you stop to have a conversation and it disconnects you have to reboot again to keep listening. Will be trying to return for a new one!
I have been having the same issue. I thought it might be the headset I was using, but I just bought new earbuds(different brand) and the issue persists. I don’t restart my device to reconnect though, I go into bluetooth settings and remove my headset and then rescan to connect. I’m wondering if it is worth calling to have this one replaced or if this is just a bluetooth flaw with all these devices.
Same problem. I have been trying to get help for a month now. I traded in a perfectly good kindle reader to upgrade to the 10th generation paperwhite because my husband wanted to listen to audible books. Worked great for 8 months. Then it would only connect to our Bluetooth devices if I would restart the device, then that stopped working. Then I had to reset and reregister the device. Now these same Bluetooth devices still work on other devices and had worked for 8 months on the paperwhite. I called Amazon and was told I would get a replacement, I sent in the paperwhite and they had a tech look at it. It was returned and I was told it was working. Nope. So, I called again and had to go through the same troubleshooting I had done before. Finally, the rep said I would get a replacement, I received a refurbished device. And it didn't work either. Called again, went through the same troubleshooting with the rep. After about a week of troubleshooting, I asked for a new device. I was told no, I could send in the device and a tech would look at it. Well, I give up!
I'm stuck with no Bluetooth connectivity and then having to restart every time I want to connect my JBL earbuds. And I bought both the Paperwhite and the JBL earbuds from AMZN. But they both work independently without a problem so all I can hope is the tech people occasionally review AMAZONFORUM threads.
I am having the same problem! I use the text to speech feature.
Last week I spent two hours on the phone with customer service. They declared my Kindle broken and sent me a new one. Today is the 2nd day of having the replacement Kindle and already having problems getting it to connect with my headphones. Sometimes, even after a hard re-boot I can't get the Kindle to recognize my headphones.
Looks like I'll be on the phone with them for another 2hrs tonight. :-(
I have been nursing an old old Kindle touch for years waiting for Kindle to come out with a newer version that has the text to speech and will last longer than the Fire. I am greatly, greatly disappointed in this version.
Depending on what customer service says tonight, I may be requesting my money back, and sending this hunk of junk back to them.
I have EXCELLENT NEWS TO ALL! I was able to FINALLY talk to the IT dept at AMAZON! WOOHOOO! They took me very seriously as even with the brand new replacement Kindle Paperwhite they sent me does the same thing. We went through the fact that not even my Sony devices are working and they verified that the Sony devices I have are listed as ones that should connect. Sony is a big Vendor and Amazon cannot afford to lose business on their Kindle with their first Bluetooth Kindle not working. It looks like there is a glitch is the software upgrade that was done in either May or July 2019. Either way, they have called me several times in the past two weeks to let me know that they are working on it diligently to fix this as they need to pinpoint exactly what is causing the error. Hopefully they will have a software update soon that will fix this for everyone. This obviously cannot be ignored.
