Every time I touch my screen to turn the page on my book, it briefly flicks to the black background with white lettering before coming back to the white background/black lettering! This is a brand new Kindle Paperwhite I purchased last week based on all the positive reviews!
Does anyone else experience the same issue? it is driving me crazy, and I am hoping it is just a fluke with this particular device (I can request an exchange if that's the case) and not something to be expected on all devices
That's how e-ink screens work. You can set it to do a full refresh with every page turn, or a partial refresh every turn with a full refresh every 5 or 6 page turns. The latter will minimize the flashing, but may leave a bit of 'ghosting' on the screen between full refreshes. Go to Settings > Reading Options and experiment with turning Page Refresh on or off.
Once you get used to the Kindle, you should no longer notice the screen flash. I think I automatically blink when I turn pages.
