When I'm reading, sometimes the font size box pops up and starts changing the font size automatically, up and down. Other times, when I try to open the same box, it refuses to open. Sometimes turning the unit off, then on again, helps, other times not. NEVER ever had a problem with my old Paperwhite. Is this a software or hardware problem and should it be replaced or is there something I can do to fix it. I've not found anything in the forum regarding this particular issue.
if you've recently downloaded a lot of books, indexing can cause problem in slowness of response. Try a reboot by holding the power in for a full 30 seconds and then letting it come back up. t might also be trying to run an update
btw, it's not a 4th Gen Paperwhite, it's the 4th version of a paperwhite and it's a 10th Gen device
I don't have a paperwhite but I do have a basic kindle that did that same thing with the font size box coming up. It appears to be because something may have touched the screen funny. In my case, I was reading outdoors in between times mixing small batches of concrete patcher for my husband. The cloth I was using to protect the edges from my fingers also draped across the screen. Every time it did, the font came up and sometimes other screens. Make sure nothing is touching the screen other than your finger when YOU want it to.
