I had to do a factory reset on my 6th gen Kindle Paperwhite, which meant re-downloading all my collections and books. Now only about a third of the book cover thumbnails are showing; the rest are just the blanks with the title. I've tried restarting the device, and removing the books from the device and re-downloading them. I left the device connected to wifi -- which I normally don't do, to save battery life and because page turns slow down when connected -- thinking it just needed time to load the covers. That hasn't worked, either. What do I have to do to get the book cover images back for the other 2/3 of my library?
I did the Reset with my Oasis earlier in the week. It's something I do on a regular basis but it takes time for the cover images to download. I find that I have to keep each page of books open, with WiFi on, and the covers eventually appear. Then I move on to the next page. Do you, by any chance, have a lot of books on your account. I share my Amazon account with several other family members so I have thousands of books.
Having said that, I never turn WiFi off. I don't find that it makes a significant difference to batter life or slows my Kindle in any way.
Thanks for your reply. I'll see if that works. I do have a lot of books -- around 900 -- and maybe that's part of it.
I do find a huge difference between airplane mode and connected to wifi, though. The pages turn slower, going back to home is slower, opening every collection and book is slower -- it's very noticeable. Maybe this is a difference between a 6th gen Paperwhite and an Oasis. (I also have a 7th gen Paperwhite -- same thing.)
ETA: 2 hrs later, keeping the page open with wifi on hasn't worked. Switching from "downloaded" to "all" adds a few covers, but it's still far from getting most of them.
I am having this same issue, I've had my Oasis about 2 months now, with about 100 books on it. About 30 books are missing their covers. The name of the book and the author appear, but not the picture/artwork .Deleting and redownloading a book doesn't fix, nor does switching from grid to list back to grid, nor does switching home screen view off then back on (suggestions I'd read elsewhere.) The books affected do seem to be older books that I bought on my old kindle, but not all old books are affected. Anyone else have any more ideas about how to fix this, or thoughts on why some books are affected but not others?
