i got a 10th generation paperwhite a few weeks ago, and discovered that for every book I downloaded, when I turned a page the text would show as black for a second and then flicker to gray. The reduced contrast bothered me, and while I could make the whole screen brighter, that black-to-gray flicker would still happen. I tried different books but it happened on all of them. I tried rll reboots and a complete de register and reset to default. When i called Amazon, they had me send it back and replaced it with a new 10th generation paperwhite.
And this one does THE SAME THING. That constant change in contrast with every page turn drives me nuts. I have not had this issue with previous generations.
i would think That maybe the reduced contrast was an intentional feature but for the fact that every page shows black text for a second before it goes gray.
Am I the only one having this issue? I’m sending this back and wonder if I should wait for 11th generation!
Yes. No matter what level of screen brightness, no matter what font no matter what book. With each page change, text appears black and in a second flicks to less-black. Even with font “bold” selected, page turn shows text is very bold and then shifts to less bold.
It is is as if contrast readjusts and lessens every time I turn the page. Very very irritating.
If anyone has a 10th gen Paperwhite, can you tell me if yours does NOT do this? Maybe they all do and some people don’t notice?
