mine still does (even after the latest update) unless it's a book from a source other than Amazon or a personal document, but since that takes you to the Kindle Store (requires a wireless connection), I prefer to open the book, tap in the upper half inch of the screen and then select About this Book from the menu as that gives a short synopsis and comes up immediately
Just checking on mine (I haven't gotten the update yet, and haven't taken out my laptop to manually download it, either), it depends on if the book is downloaded or not.
From the home page, books not downloaded show both a "Book Description" option and View on Goodreads. Downloaded books only have View on Goodreads (again, this is with a long hold/press from the home page). I only have Amazon purchased books, so, for me, it's not because of the source of the book.
