Hello HappySmile, Welcome to Amazon Digital and Device Forum!
I'm sorry about the trouble you have with your Fire TV Edition TV.
Some Fire TV Edition TVs may not be able to complete their automatic software update. If your device is still stuck in this "software update loop", try to complete a manual update:
Open the .zip file and extract the enclosed files by right-clicking the file and selecting "Extract All". (On a Mac, double-click the .zip file to extract the files.)
Next, plug a USB storage device into your computer with at least 4 MB of available memory. If you're already using a USB storage device with your TV to view photos or play music or videos, then this same device should also work for the software update. (The USB device must be FAT32 formatted.)
The USB storage device appears as a removable drive on your computer. Drag and drop or copy and paste the files directly onto the USB device, making sure not to put them in a subfolder. Once the files have been copied, you can eject the USB device to safely disconnect it from your computer.
Unplug any external devices from your TV, then unplug the TV's power cord.
Plug the USB stick into either USB port on your TV, then plug in the power cord for the TV. The TV turns on by itself and begins installing the update. It reboots during this time. Be sure to keep the TV and USB stick firmly plugged in. If prompted, press the power button on the front of your TV to finish the reboot process.
Televisions with Smart capabilities are not really smart. Amazon gives the television vendor its program interface specifications and the television folks develop the code. The frequency of the television updates is far less than those for the Amazon devices. In my case a Vizio television does not even have the DVR option on the top line menu. The Amazon experience is so brain dead, I purchased a Fire Stick for that television as well. Your experience re-enforces my perception of the problem.
@ Gerry P I download it to the usb and I’m still having the same problem. What do you recommend I do now this is so unfortunate a brand new Element not even a year old would do this
Amazon is not responsible for the code on the Element television as it is not responsible on my Vizio television. You need to contact Element and ask them. I gave up on Vizio and purchased a 4K stick for less than $30. Its a cheap solution and will provide a better Fire experience.
