After the 8/1 rescan NBC is now listed as XHTVDT on the channel guide. This prevents us from setting recordings. NBC is nowhere to be found on the channel guide. Tried rescanning but NBC programming still comes up as a Spanish channel’s information. We’re out of the Newark, NJ area. Any help on how we can get the NBC listing back on the channel.
The BIG problem is that Amazon has no process for handling these errors. I have some errors since the repack. I tried to get some support at Amazon and, after passing through three CSRs, the 'right guy' didn't need my zip code. Looks like Amazon is selling someone else's products with no idea what it is doing. Disappointed.
I tried all the options above to get it to recognize NBC but they didn’t work. NBC programming is still listed as ForoTV programming. Glad to hear that TiVo and other OTA guides are having this problem as it may mean a fix will happen soon. Thanks for your responses.
We have the same type of issue on a couple of our OTA stations. Our Channel 6 shows in the guide as "CBS", which of course is the network affiliation. Channel 10 shows up as "WILX", which is the call sign for that station but the NBC peacock does show up so we know it's NBC. Channel 23 shows up as "PBS", again network affiliation. Channel 47 shows up as "Fox47" which is their nickname and 53 shows up as ABC, again network affiliation.
So there appears to be no rhyme or reason for the naming conventions used or consistency in the way the channels are sorted in different sections of the channel guide. There was a recent update that sorts the channel guide by the actual channel numbers (although they aren't shown there) but in the "Favorites" section of the channel guide, they are sorted alphabetically like they used to be.
Amazon REALLY needs to at the very least, allow editing of the channel guide labels, including a way to designate not only channel numbers, but call signs and/or network affiliations that match what we are used to instead of trying to constantly find logic where there is none. It's just one more thing that is inconsistent across the entire FireTV UI. Who do they think they are?? Microsoft?? Sigh..........
NOTE: I do NOT speak for or represent Amazon in any fashion. This is a customer to customer forum.
