I'm hoping that someone can please help me with my Recast. Whenever I playback a recorded show, the picture quality degrades during playback. The picture looks really bad. Less than 480 most of the time. If I fast forward a bit, the picture looks great again and short after, it looks like crap again. When I'm watching live TV, I don't have this problem. The picture looks solid, but this only happens with recorded shows.
Recast in on wifi and I'm watching it through FireTV second gen 4k box.
If your using WiFi to stream from the Recast, it could be as simple as the location of your firestick is not getting a good signal. Some have found that by simply moving the stick a few inches one way or another helps. Another thing is to add a longer HDMI extender cable to allow you to move the stick even further away/up/down or wherever you can to get the best signal.
I bought a 3' HDMI extender cable from Amazon that allowed me to move my stick up and away from the TV which in turn, increased my wifi signal from 2 bars to 4 and no longer have any issues over wifi. My older Plasma has a metal back on it and it appears it was blocking quite a bit of the signal. Just a thought.
If however, your using ethernet with your stick, then network congestion or optimization of your router may be the reasons for the Recast to downres your stream.
