Just adding that I have the same issue. Date and time defaults to April 7, when I received and setup my device for the first time. Just now rebooted the device and it set the system clock back. Really annoying problem, and no way to manually update it.

I fixed this issue on my firestick 4k by disabling my vpn application and changing the vpn setting to not reconnect on startup and restarting my firestick 4k. After restarting your firestick 4k press the home button go to settings then go to preferences then go to time zone, select time zone again and make sure your time zone, date and time are correct if is not correct press the ok or select button and select your correct time zone and restart your firestick again. Remember if you are using a vpn application you need to disable it or uninstall because many of this iptv service providers do not allow the use of vpn applications.
Sam issue - preference, time zone set United States Pacific daylight Time and again Pacific daylight Time for Los Angeles. The clock is a head 5 hours and the date is 2 days off.
It is May 6th @ 9:30 PM
but the fire stick 4K shows
May 4th @ 2:30 AM
Every other piece of electronic equipment allows you to select the date and time so this is a major flaw that should be easily correctable.
Ok so I just restarted my fire stick 4K and went back to preference, and I change the ZIP Code to the five digit ZIP Code as mine was displaying the five code plus the additional - code and when I went to check the time and date it was correct. I’ll keep an eye on it and report back if anything switches back to the way it was.
I found that the issue in my case is related to VPN. I use ExpressVPN and if the device is restarted while the VPN is activated it comes up with wrong date time. There's no logic on the date time it chooses to start with, it doesn't seem related to the VPN server. Sometimes is even behind by a couple of days. If I deactivate the VPN before rebooting the stick it comes back with the correct date time.
Not sure if it's an issue with the stick or with the VPN but hope it helps
FIXED: For me, this issue was caused by the VPN starting automatically whenever the Fire TV was rebooted.
I fixed this, not by disabling the automatic startup (which also worked), but by only letting certain programs through the VPN. I use ExpressVPN, which calls this option "Split Tunneling" and is found under settings.
I have had this problem several times. I just had to factory reset my device again (five times now that we have had to reload our apk files). This is beyond idiotic! There has to be a way to reset the date and time on this device to the correct time. I know that it is the device since I have another FireTV in another room on the same network and it is not doing this.
As others have shared, I cannot see any content that is date/time stamped or oriented. Get with it amazon. You have to fix this, replace the bad devices or write a function that allows users to reset the correct date and time.
I am not sure if this is part of your conversation. I subscribe to CBS All Access through my Fire Stick for the local and national news. I live in NE Pennsylvania and had been watching the CBS Binghamton, NY local channel. A week ago my Binghamton channel became a CBS Wichita, KS channel. It is not in the same time zone Can anyone help?

What does this have to do with displaying the wrong time and date?

Amazing! Thank you Robert worked for me too! Plus allows me to select apps for which vpn will be enabled or not! 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I just realized that I had this same problem. I rebooted my firestick and the correct date and time showed up. I don't know if it will continue to be correct.
Thanks. This worked. Funny no one else has thanked you, especially that among which your solution is included there are several wordy and poorly written attempts to describe a fix.
I have a new firestick 4k. The date and time are off by more than a month and 6 hours respectively. The location zip code is correct. The time zone is correct. It is set for 12 hour clock although that doesn't change it. The latest software update is installed. I have executed the factory reset it multiple times but the next day it is wrong again. This is going on for over 4 months now. When can I expect a fix for this issue? Some shows I cannot watch because of this issue.

Fixed!!!!
the issue is with your vpn and amazon not playing well. Steps to resolve are as follows:
1- turn off your vpn
2- go to settings, time zones and change your time zone to anything else
3- restart
4- go to setting again, the date will now be correct change to the correct time zone.
5- restart
6- turn vpn back on and you should be good to go.
youre welcome Amazon
