Any time I turn my TV on after my Fire Stick hasn't been used for more than a couple of hours, the screen is black and the Fire Stick doesn't respond to the remote. So I have to unplug and then plug the power source in order to be able to use the stick again.
I had this issue with the older generation Fire Stick I had.
Any advice? Having to manually restart it is very annoying because the wall socket the power source is plugged into is hard to reach.
Then try new batteries in the remote .... it should wake up from sleep mode by touching the Enter or Home button on the remote.
Are you sure your TV is staying on the last input used, and not reverting back to TV.
All you should have to do is turn on your TV, and wake your FireTV. (Almost sounds like it is nt staying on that HDMI port when TV is turning off. That can be remedied from the TV remote, without unplugging the Stick every tie you start the TV.
And if you have the CEC function on your TV and Stick on, all you should do is hit the Enter or Home button, and the Stick should turn on your TV.
i have a similar issue related to my fire tv stick used in LCD projector. I need to get on a step stool to unplug and replug every time. the remote works fine after that so i doubt its a battery issue and they have been replaced recently.
Mine is a mystery. My first gen 2 stick started doing it everyday. Threw all of it away and installed a brand new gen 2 stick I had bought around the same time. It's still doing it. New remote with new batteries. Old nor new would restart with remote combination buttons. Thought it could be my port. When I got home tonight after putting it to sleep manually this morning the screen was already up. Which is strange because I didn't touch the remote. Anyhow it didn't matter as I could do nothing on the main screen. First thing I did was pull it's HDMI and wait 20 seconds. When I plugged it back it the home screen came right back up like the stick is froze. Hard reset it and it's working. I've ran my first gen 2 stick over a year before it went bad or whatever is going on.
Could for some reason, the remote be losing its link to the stick and resetting the fire stick re-establishes the link? Got good batteries. It was even acting up on my gaming remote for it. This is a brand new remote I'm using now it came with my new stick.
