I have a Toshiba 4K Amazon Fire TV. I reset the TV to factory settings and when it returned to the “Select a Language” set up screen I was unable to make a selection with my remote.
Ive done a series of resets I have read including turning on and off the tv, checking the batteries, resetting the remote holding back/menu/left, pairing remote holding down home - yet I’m still able to connect. Because I’m under factory reset using the app is not an options. I called amazon and Toshiba and neither were helpful.

I am having the exact same problem. Same TV, stuck at the same spot. Toshiba sent me a replacement remote to hopeful get past the select language screen but the new remote isn't working either. I can use the remote to turn the tv on and off but that is it. I plugged a mouse into the usb port and can sometimes get past the select language screen but the next screen is the pair remote screen to which my remotes will not pair. My TV is directly connected to the internet through an Ethernet cable so it's not that it isn't connecting to internet. I believe is has more to do with factory resetting the tv and in the process logging out of amazon accounts. However it make no sense that it won't let me start fresh, and I can't understand why with two remotes and even trying with the firetv app that I cannot set up my tv. My remote stopped working within the first week of me purchasing the t.v. so the only way I was able to watch or connect to the tv was with the app. I purchased my firetv during black friday and have only been able to use it a dozen times. Ive talked to Amazon and Toshiba a total of 3 times now, each time being an hour + conversation to resolve/troubleshoot the issue. Finally Toshiba has set me up with Geek Squad to come assess the issue. My appointment is tomorrow so I will let you know if they are able to fix the issue. If not I am going to have to return due to warranty issue which means I have weeks until I have a television in my home again. This has been beyond frustrating and I am still no where near resolution. 3 months without tv really *****.
