I have been having an issue with my Fire Tv since the last update. Every time I watch a movie and go back to my watchlist, remove and/or add a movie or just quickly switch between tabs home, Your videos, and Movies, it causes the device to freeze and then crash and after a few second reloads to the home screen. If I restart my device or restore it, it works fine until I play a video and then the issue returns. All other apps, Netflix, Hulu, etc... work with no issues.
Also, the subtitles stop allowing me to switch to yellow subtitles.
If I restore or restart the device it starts working again until I play a movie, then once I go back to the watchlist the issue starts happening again. The subtitles work but then break again within 24 hours.
I tried contacting Amazon support for 2 months now and they tell me it is my device, but have replaced it twice, then say it is my tv, or my internet, which was ruled out when I tested it on a different tv and used wifi vs wired and the issue still occurs. They then keep saying they will escalate to the developers, but there has been no solution and I keep waiting week after week to hear nothing. Has anyone else seen this issue or know how to resolve it?
The version of fire tv I have is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N32NCPM/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Honestly, I getting sick of the lack of support and the issue. I paid 100 bucks or this device and the network adapter less than a year ago. Normally Amazon has amazing support and customer service, which is why I am very disappointed that this issue isn't resolved and they are really dragging their feet on the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Debug steps I have tried already (as far as I can remember):
Factory restore of the device
2x replace the device (despite me telling them that it won't resolve the issue after the first replacement didn't work)
Connecting it to a wired network connection
Connecting it to a Wifi network connection
Connecting it to a different TV
Testing the watchlist on the web (Works fine)
Testing on a mobile app (Works fine)
Testing on a console (Works fine)
Testing on a Roku (Works fine)
Clearing the cache and data of the Prime App on the fireTV.
Your list does not indicate if the stick is plugged into the TV's USB port for power. When I used the USB port on the TV for power, my firesticks exhibited the issues you are having. Only 1 of my 5 firesticks works properly (most of the time) using the USB port. All others work for a while and then require a reset of the stick to resolve a transient issue.
Many people have ignored the proper setup instructions, and chose to do it there own way, creating many issues with the device operation..........
Once they Reset to Factory, and go back and install it properly using all the proper cords and plug block, they usually continue normally. However, I feel some have caused permanant damage, as it never runs right again for them.
Amazon gives instructions with there devices for a reason.
