I've been seeing this issue come up on a lot of forums and so far the only solutions offered have been the typical troubleshooting tips that most customers know by heart. I.e. unplug the device, force stop, clear cache, uninstall/reinstall app, reset the modem, etc. Etc.
If there's no fix, please say so. If we need a newer version of the Firestick because neflix is no longer compatible on older ones, please say so. If u have a fix, great! All ears.
Issue: Netflix opens fine, previews shows fine, etc. Then plays show/movie for about 5-10 seconds and says it's 'having trouble playing the title right now'. Very strong wifi connection and speed test on firestick is at 25 mbps. All other apps and streaming work on Firestick.
Maybe your ISP is throttling your Netflix? Fast.com is SUPPOSED to test Netflix's servers. It always shows the advertised speed from my small ISP. Since the demise of net neutrality, some ISPs have been throttling willy nilly.
The proper operation of a third party App to run on a platform, and keep it updated and working, would be up to the developer of such App.
In this case. Netflix would be responsible for keeping their App updated and working on all platforms of Amazon OS. If Netflix is having issues, it would be up to them to correct it or up to them to abandon older OS if they so choose.
If it was Amazon Videos having issues, it would be up to Amazon to correct it.
This is a peer to peer forum, no one from Amazon in here. You would have to contact the Developer of the App.
This is the exact same problem we have been having. I contacted Netflix and went through all of their troubleshooting steps and they recommended I call Amazon because it must have to do with the current firmware. I contacted Amazon, went through all the troubleshooting steps again, and it still didn't work, at which point they said they would look into the problem and get back to us. It's been more than a month and I haven't heard anything and it's still doing the same thing. Has anyone found a solution??
I have the same problem. I’ve tried rebooting, clearing cache, restart, reinstall, etc. The thing is that Netflix works fine on everything else, including my Roku, so it’s obviously a problem with the Firestick that Amazon refuses to acknowledge.
I have 4 Fire Sticks & only get the Netflix error on 1 of them. After all possible troubleshooting, we've realized it's definitely the Fire Stick. Got them all at the same time last year, and it's just now having the issue.
Has anyone figured this out yet? I haven’t been able to play Netflix on my fire stick in over a month. Netflix plays on EVERY other device in my home. I did speed tests from the stick and I get anywhere from 75-105 mbps. I know I have very good connection. Every other application plays just fine on the stick. CW, YouTube, prime video...all work as usual. And Netflix starts up just fine, plays previews but as soon as you load a show/movie, it comes up with the “Netflix is having trouble playing this title right now...” error. And when I select “more info” button, it takes me into the Netflix settings and that’s the end of it, no more info is there. Nothing will play. No alternative titles, no shows, no movies, nothing. I have done EVERYTHING, resets, updates, uninstalls, re-installs, clear cache, clear data, plug in and out of both my router and stick, get mad and threaten to blast it with the AR....yada yada yada. It’s all fruitless. I hope they fix this soon!! Because I’m about to throw this stick in the trash and wash my hands of the irritation is has given me!!!
Netflix is telling me that it is Amazons problem. Not theirs. They see that I’m having issues and they can see the code error that I keep getting but say it is the device that’s the problem. But it’s funny because EVERY other application used on it works just fine. They keep saying that I may have to reset it to factory settings. I. Have. Done. This. The stick works FINE. It’s just Netflix that’s broken. Oh well. I guess I’ll just keep the stick for prime membership and I’ll use Netflix on the Xbox. It was just nice to get the stick because everything could be done on one smaller device without killing the life of my Xbox One. But alas that didn’t last long.
So....I just decided to go through all the troubleshooting again...one LAST hopeful time before completely giving up. And nothing worked again, so I decided to reset the whole stick back to manufacturer defaults, for the 3rd time now. And even though I had done updates through the settings menu on the device, and there were no more updates to do...when I reset the stick this time, it had updates to apply. Hmmm...so the STICK, won’t update now unless we reset it to manufacturer defaults? Because I have reset it 3 times now in the last month and it didn’t do ANY of that until now. And guess what? Netflix now works on the stick!!! So the problem doesn’t specifically lie with Netflix, it lies with amazon who’s device isn’t updating through the settings menu properly, causing Netflix to not work. So everyone who’s having issues, try one last time to reset it to defaults and see if it works. It could have been new firmware they (Amazon) just recently applied. I just checked mine last week and the stick was updated to the latest firmware according to their website. And then last night, when I checked for updates again, it said there weren’t any. But NOW that I performed another reset, there’s a whole new firmware on there. So maybe this particular firmware or software update has a bug that won’t update from the settings menu....? I don’t know but resetting to manufacture defaults for the 3rd time was the charm for me...after a month of hair pulling and no answers...I hate technology. I hope everyone figures it out!!
