I have two new Firestick 4K's I bought on sale to replace my ROKU Ultra and 4k ROKU Stick. Got them on PRIME day. Both are within 20 feet of my ASUS RT-X88U router. I opted for the Ethernet adapter. I'm on fiber 250 up and down so bandwidth is not an issue. The problem is with the pause function. My wife has been watching Heartland on HULU. She can hit pause or the big round button on the remote and it pauses ............. She does a few chores, comes back, hits go and it usually throws her back to the home screen. When she goes to "recent" she is thrown 2 - 3 episodes in the past. She finds the correct episode and then has to fast forward the get to where she was. This is happening on an LG TV and a Sony TV. Both are late models and have all the specs you could want in a TV. I asked Hulu and their idea was to just use the big round button to pause. They stated, "The pause button is flaky." What a waste of my time talking with HULU. I have reset both Firesticks to factory specs, download, installed and logged in to all my apps at least twice and still no joy. I like the features that Amazon has included with the Firestick such as a dongle extension, the Ethernet adapter, increased storage space, Android, ability to side-load APK's which I really like. I do wish they would have included the Ethernet adapter in the box instead of making it a separate purchase. I've experienced this on Netflix and most everything I try and pause. I don't think, since it occurs on multiple streaming platforms that it is an issue with the app. I wondering if the Firestick is worth further effort. I have a week or so left to hope for an answer. If no solution is forthcoming these are going back to Amazon and I'm going back to ROKU. Doesn't have all the feature that I truly like about the Firestick but it works, all the time, it just works. Someone in tech support at Amazon (would to heavens I could speak with a tech) needs to get in the middle of debugging this problem. From all the comments I've read my issue is by no means the only one being experienced by myriad FIrestick owners. Thanks for reading as I know it's a bit wordy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have had the fire stick for a couple of years now, and today while I am watching TV on it, it kept going back to the home page. I have restarted the stick and changed batteries...I even took batteries out of the remote, and it still not stay on the show I am watch in Hulu...any ideas on what is going on?
My fire stick keeps defaulting to home screen after a few minutes inactivity... I don't have the problem a lot of users mention of it defaulting to home screen during a show, although pausing for long enough counts as inactivity and defaulting to home screen... do I get points for every time I mention home screen...? Lol
