I was somehow logged in with my wifi Spectrum account vs my cable account and am unable to log out or disable the single sign-on. I have spent hours (literally) on the phone with Amazon, uninstalled, reinstalled the effected apps and even reset my fire TV box to factory settings without a resolution. All I am wanting is to disable the single sign-on. Has anyone experienced this and have a fix?
Please let us know how it goes! Signing out of any one of the Single Sign-On (SSO) apps you are using with your Spectrum account should sign you out of all of them. Let us know which SSO apps you have if you need some help figuring out how to sign out.
Thank you for your response, it appears the thread you mentioned was a different issue. I did read through it and saw that their resolution was to log out of the apps then select the problematic apps through the SSO. I am already logged out of the apps but when prompted to log in with my provider, it automatically logs me into my Spectrum wifi account and does not allow me to log in with my cable account or even give me an option to log out of my wifi account. Once it automatically logs me into my wifi account I will receive a notification stating I do not have privileges for that app because it is not on my cable plan (of course not because it's my wifi account). The apps that I am having a problem with is AMC and Freeform. It appears there are 7 other threads on this topic but no resolution mentioned, so I know I'm not the only one experiencing this.
This same problem is happening to me, even though I am using my cable login. I have tried the same troubleshooting solutions, even got a new Firestick. Apps that I was able to log in to before the rollout of single sign-on are now saying that they are not included in my subscription. Which is odd because I can log in to those same apps on my Apple streaming devices. I have complained several times to Amazon customer service and to Spectrum. I've been guided step-by-step by live phone support. NOTHING!
It's so frustrating. And the lack of response, from Amazon, compounds the frustration. I absolutly hate that there is not a direct setting control for single sign-on. It's been almost a year since I've lost access to many of my apps. Only the ones that do not use my cable provider info in combination with single sign-on work.
Fire TV has gone from my favorite streaming device to my most despised device.
The path to the page is also Account & List dropDown. Select your Content and Devices. Preferences. Then click on Device Synchronization (Whispersync Settings). Select OFF The first reinstalled app I used to log in was the AMC APP.
Reset the firestick and register the fire stick to a family link amazon account. Then install the AMC and other apps. Then link to your TV provider. Then switch the register device back to your main account.
***Note my process was I have 2 fire stick. Which I was doing the reset on one of them. Then logged that one in with a family linked account. Then I was able to login with the correct TV provider account on both firesticks with the old Amazon account. Also had just disabled the Device Synchronization (Whispersync Settings) on the old Amazon account. If one of these methods help you. Share with others the one that helped.

Thanks that seemed to fix it. I had went through the process of clear the cache and data on all of my apps but still couldnt get back in. So I uninstalled all of them and removed the from the cloud, forgot my home network restarted the firestick on to still have the same issue.
Signed out of the 1 app I redownloaded which was MTV and then uninstalled. Turned off the whisper sync settings and now I'm back in. I have to redownload all my apps but I'm glad I'm back in!
omg!! I've been having the exact issue!!! its been driving me crazy!!!! i've looked everywhere for help. I will try this once i get home. (You have no idea how many times i've unregistered my device. I was getting ready to throw it away from being so frustrated.
I'm hoping you can help me understand in deeper detail as this has not worked for me...
I have whispersync turned off for sure, I have reset my second/new firestick many times as the old one is still working.
Can you tell me more about this family account?.. I created a secondary account and shared my Prime membership benefits then logged into the new firestick under that account and still I'm getting auto-logged into the spectrum account that I do not want linked.
I was finally able to sign in with new credentials to single sign on! When you go to the app and sign out then sign in again app gives you a website to visit and activate...go to the activation website on your laptop or PC and enter the code provided. Once it says the activation was successful (because it logged in with your old credentials) you can scroll down and in small print it says sign in with different account. If you click there you can actually put different username and password! FINALLY! Hope this helps everyone!
I have been trying to sign in to the paramount app with a new username and password but it won’t let me enter the new info. When I sign out and sign back in, it continues to use the old info. My old info was from an old account i had with direct tv. My new account is still with direct tv but it’s a new username and password. How can I get this updated with single sign on?
The easiest route is to sign out of one of the SSO apps, use the mobile hotspot on your phone to connect the Firestick to instead of your wifi. Go back to the SSO app you signed out of and sign back in once the firestick is connected to the mobile hotspot. Since you're on a new network the sign on page of your provider comes back up and you can sign in with new credentials. So much easier than having to reset the firestick, reinstall the apps and/or creating a new amazon account. Once you switch back to your wifi the new sign on stays there. Easy peezy.
I had this problem too so I can confirm this works!
