I’m getting the message “critically low on storage” constantly. I’ve gone through and taken off most apps, cleared data and cache but can get more than 560 MB OF 5.61GB free. Plus when I go on the next day, it’s filled back up on storage again. So again, I empty data and cache. I’ve added a few additional apps to my stick. When I totaled up all apps it comes to: 548.78MB. I can’t figure out where all my storage has gone to. Any suggestions?
When you look at the data for each downloaded app, what is showing as file sizes for them?
If you can't figure out what is using all your storage, you can troubleshoot with Amazon customer service or try the reset to factory default settings. Customer Service is at Help>>Need More Help>>Contact Us.

I'm being extremely clever up here and there's no one standing around looking impressed. What's the point in having you all? - Dr Who
When you see the Miscellaneous file with a large amount of data and you can not select it, it is most likely not the apps. I had the same problem and through lousy tech support that eventually hung up on me, it was determined that it is the additional profile that was eating up my storage. I had to delete my kid's profile to gain space. If you have the 16gb model it will probably not be a big deal, but it appears the 8gb model can only support 1 profile especially since some of the apps store to the internal storage regardless of your settings.
I'm having the issue and have found that a mbcache.db (amazon.tv.launcher) file is the culprit. Unfortunately you cannot get to it unless you're rooted which I don't want to do. Also don't want to reset......
I have only 9 apps installed on internally storage and those are by default using minimum data....
Doubt Amazon revs check this, but how about an update to clear this and correct the issue!?!?
The Amazon Video and Photo apps will take up 1/2 Gb of the device's memory with.............. something ("data"). You can delete the data in these apps under "Manage Applications" but they fill right back up again. Deleting unused apps is the solution and, when this no longer works, reset to factory specs
I started having the problem 2 weeks ago after I started watching stuff on Britbox. Not sure if there's a connection or not. Anyway, I am in the middle of a factory reset. To fix this issue in the future without having to reset is there a better way? I didn't have many apps installed so can't figure out where all the memory went. Do I need to install some kind of file browser to be able to delete junk files?
Just factory reset again then added a 16GB memory card and yes “critically low on storage” is still there by the way using my old Amazon Fire TV box 2nd Gen I also have the original Fire TV they were the best Amazon ever made. Well No1 still working No 2 is really not usable when whatever your doing the “critically low on storage” keeps coming up even after a factory reset and nothing added plus a 16GB cards, Really pulling my hair out here even went onto the Amazon page a deregister then reregistered
Having the same issue here. Was there a recent update or something? It seemed to be working fine a couple of days ago. I went through and cleared data on all apps because clearing cache didn't do the trick.
