Have a new firestick 4k, but cannot get dolby atmos sound. I have the firestick connect to a marantz sr7012 and have atmos speaker setup 5.4.2. When in the netflix app it only shows 5.1 available?
@JayG, FWIW, there was a problem with the Prime app a few days ago where they turned off Atmos, then turned back on. Not sure if your issue is related but you may want to try again. Several users confirmed that Atmos wasn't working for a few days, then confirmed it was a few days later.
settings ,equip, redo your tv and when it ask if the sound worked say no. it will ask if you have av or soundbar, yes, select make....you can work it from there
Thank you. I figured it out. I was never getting to this step. I had my fire tv powered from my tv usb connection, so when I turned the TV off it basically stopped the set up process at the tv power only.

Warning I edit a lot, it's an incurable condition ..... .. .
I got my new Fire TV Stick 4K set up pretty quickly, and it's working great, but...I have an annoying remote/audio problem (really a "limitation").
I have a very simple setup.
1. The TV is a 2009 Samsung LN55B650 (55" 6-series Samsung, no blutooth, no 4K, HDMI 1.3)
2. I have a Vizio soundbar (model SB 382 from Costco).
3. The soundbar is (and has been) connected to the TV via digital optical audio cable. The sound bar has worked fine for quite a while...but I hate the Vizio remote. I do like the new Fire TV Stick 4K remote.
4. We sit about 8 feet from the TV and soundbar.
The problem (limitation): The new Fire TV Stick 4K remote works and will operate the soundbar volume up/down/mute...but only at very close distance (4 feet) from the soundbar. As I said, the native Vizio remote for the soundbar works fine from the couch at 8 feet.
The new Fire TV Stick 4K is plugged into the TV's HDMI4 (I have tried using the extender). My wifi router is about 5 feet away, from the TV and the I am getting about 60MB on the 5ghz band. Streaming is fine. Nothing is blocking the soundbar's IR eye.
Everything "works". But to control the soundbar audio with the Fire TV Stick 4K remote, I have to get up from the couch and lean in to within 4 feet of the soundbar. If I use the native Vizio remote, I can control the soundbar easily from the couch (8 feet away).
What I have tried:
1. Using the HDMI extender.
2. Changing the connection (soundbar-Fire Stick TV 4K) to blutooth.
3. In the Fire TV Stick 4K Equipment control setup, I have ensured that:
a. the soundbar IR profile is set correctly (4476) for a Vizio SB series soundbar.
b. the timing is increased from the default 160ms all the way up to 1000 (I have tried several settings)
c. the repetition is increased from one signal-send to 2...or 3.
4. I have checked for updates.
I have "removed the [soundbar] device" from the Fire TV Stick 4K multiple times, and added it back again. Like I said...everything "works"...I CAN control the soundbar sound using the Fire TV Stick 4K remote...but only if I move from 8 feet away to 4 feet away, which is very annoying. I have to get up and lean in towards the soundbar to get it to respond. If I use the native Vizio soundbar remote...it works fine. But I hate that remote, and would very much like to just use the new (and pretty good) Fire TV Stick 4K remote.
Jeff, you got me. I thought they had come out with an updated 4K stick. Your question "This is still a problem. I did not receive a response." I am using a Vizio sound bar with my Vizio bedroom television and the controller is at least 12 feet away and I have no issues with my 4K stick. I had to pair my sound bar with the remote; however, after that it works properly. I too hate the Visio sound bar controller and I have not used it since I set up the television. I do have one anomaly that the sound no longer comes on automatically and I have to depress the volume rocker on the 4K stick once and then it works properly. This might be related to the direction of the IR when I turn on the 4K stick because that signal is line of sight and I am not sure if it is on the woofer or the sound bar 3 feet higher.
Thank you, I have the Fire TV Stick 4K, and bought it as soon as it came out in Oct 2018. It updates via internet, so I assume it is updated...unless I am missing your point.
As I said, I can make the Fire TV remote work on the Vizio soundbar, but only if it's very close. I have to get up from the couch to use it, which kind of defeats the purpose. I don't know what else to try.
Oddly, the Fire TV 4K does not seem to update automatically. You may have to go into SETTINGS: MY FIRE TV: ABOUT: CHECK FOR UPDATES
To change volume with the voice-enabled remote you hold down the microphone button and speak into the remote. A second or so later, the volume level can be seen to change. If I was going to use this method, I'd increase the amount it changes for each activation. Mine is currently set so the change in volume is very small.
On the Fire TV app, click on the button marked REMOTE. Then you have to press and drag the microphone button, then speak into it.
But you may have an obscure setup not designed to work properly with the Fire TV ecosystem.
Because it does work when you are closer, and I assume if you are using the internal TV speakers and not the sound bar it works normally, it may have a defective 4K Firestick. As I said, my 4 K works with two sound bars (Onkyno, and Vizio) I would request a replacement and if you are too late for them to replace, I would purchase a 2nd 4K stick.
Thanks again...that is pretty close to the model number I have: SB3821-C6.
Would you mind me asking for your settings? In the Firestick 4K Equip control section, for the soundbar, for infrared, what are your settings for IR profile, repeat, and repetition? Thanks if you don't mind taking a look.
Also, how do you have yours physically connected to your TV? I am using the optical.
BTW, I just thought I had this figured out. I found/performed a firmware update for the soundbar. Unfortunately, it had no effect. I am still limited to about 4 feet to use the Firestick remote to control the soundbar. The native remote still works just fine from the couch at 8 feet.
I have the sound bar optical cable plugged into the television. Thanks for the other questions, I went into a lot of areas that I did not know existed and some of the threads talked about those settings. I have just used the defaults which worked (except I had to turn the volume up or down before I got sound). By increasing the delay, my sound bar comes on without any additional input other than turning on the television. The IR profile is 4472, my delay is now 10 seconds up from 4 (default), HDMI CEC device control is on, audio is best available, and I chose VSB (I did not realize all the other items such as S series etc.) I may have missed a setting you wanted please advise where to look and I will check again. Also I found my Recast IP, DNS mask etc. It was an interesting trip into the settings arena.
