We have two TV's that use a fire stick for streaming and this happens on both. During playback of a show on Hulu, the screen will blank, then the fire stick restarts and returns to the home screen. There is no consistency in how much play time before it happens. At its worst, we can watch a show for about 5 minute intervals, then ba ba booie, restart only to happen all over again. The app is up to date and we have tried clearing cache, data etc. Don't believe that it's an ISP issue, because Hulu on our WI works fine
With the troubleshooting you've already tried, it's time to contact Amazon customer service, although contacting Hulu might be a better option, especially since the issue is on more than one device. The problem might be on their end or just with the Fire TV app, something only they can fix.

I have experienced the same exact thing happen. And it's on multiple fire stick devices, however it doesn't happen when I try to watch HULU on a Roku, laptop, macbook, iphone, andriod phone or a ipad!
It's very annoying because my MAIN tv in my living room is my Fire stick!!!
Have you found any answers? I trouble shooted with Hulu customer service and they had me "force stop" the app 3 times in a row, and it finally started to work! Then this morning- BAM it's not working AGAIN! >:(
I have had Hulu on my Firestick for quite some time and never had an issues until the past week. Now it constantly reboots or get the playback error message telling me to restart the video or watch something else - but this happens with every program I watch on Hulu. It's frustrating and making me rethink my hulu watching options.
The only way I could fix this was to purchase the network adaptor that plugs into the USB port of the fire TV device and connect it directly to my router via a network cable. WiFi is useless for some reason. I have the Fire TV 4k device but I had the same issues with the stick.
