We are currently unable to contact our servers error when trying to do a search on firestick. I've restarted the stick. I'm on the current software version. My stick is connected to my Amazon account. What else could it be?
It sounds like you’re connected to wifi, but not to Amazon. Try the following:
1. Forget your network, then re-connect to your network. (Fire TV menu > Settings > Network > select the connected network > press the 3-bar Menu button on the remote to Forget it). If that doesn’t work,
2. De-register your FS, then re-register it. (Fire TV menu > Settings > My Account)
