Brand new out of the box Amazon fire TV stick generation 2 with a LG 47LH30-UA model TV.
I followed all the directions on the FAQ troubleshooting page for the Amazon fire stick for display problems. We have the proper HDMI input selected because the Amazon logo pops up, so I know it's not a faulty HDMI port. I reset the fire stick by unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for several minutes, and reset it using the remote as well. I used the remote to do a factory reset also.
We tried using different HDMI inputs, all gave the same thing. The TV is on and set to the right HDMI input channel, and the fact the white Amazon logo comes up for about 7 seconds indicates it's not an issue with the TV HDMI port. By the same token the fact the Amazon logo comes up on the screen indicates it's not a power supply problem either, which it shouldn't be considering I'm using the USB cable and power adapter that came with it.
Not using a HDMI hub, and we tried using both the HDMI extender cable that came with it and plugging the stick directly into the TV's HDMI port. Both gave the same result. None of the other HDMI ports have anything plugged into them either.
Simultaneously pressing the Up and Rewind button on the Fire TV remote for 5 seconds to cycle through the different resolutions did absolutely nothing. The screen just remained black and completely blank.
There have been three different people who have each spent hours and hours trying to figure this all out. I'm about ready to tape the stupid thing to a bottle rocket and launch it into the stratosphere.
