I sure do talk to my friends on a regular basis, and I set all of them up with the FireTV Sticks.
It appears you have many issues, one of them being a faulty remote, weather it is your fault or an Amazon product fault, just call them and have it replaced, as what you are going through is not normal behavior.
You might want to verify that the voice button is not stuck in the depressed position. If it is the remote that is defective contact Amazon support. The design most likely is not defective; however, it could be their quality assurance may be missing a beat. I have purchased 7 remotes with the 8th on the way with the new cube and over 3 years with the oldest remote I have replaced one set of batteries. It does not appear to be a design flaw to me.
To those who are still having this issue of Firestick remote batteries draining too quick, I had the same issue when I had to change the batteries every week or two. I got this information from Amazon customer care and it seems to be working. I haven't had any issue for last one week. First, make sure your Firestick is up to date. Then follow the steps below.
1. Unplug the Firestick adapter from the power supply.
2. Remove the batteries from the remote.
3. Press left on the circle + back + options/menu button simultaneously for 30 seconds
4. Now plug the Firestick adapter to the power supply
5. Put the batteries in and wait for the Firestick to detect the remote. This should take about 30 seconds after the Firestick boots.
This should resolve this issue. Will update in a week if this solution doesn't work either. If not, consider the solution working.
I recieved my firestick in June 2019 and I've changed the remote batteries 7 times already. I checked for a remote upgrade but there's nothing indicating I need to upgrade. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks
If there was a design fault my eight remotes must somehow not be effected. It is not a design fault. At most it could be a quality assurance issue. If your remote is destroying your batteries, call Amazon and get a replacement. Of course you need to be in the warrantee period so do not wait to contact Amazon. Complaining here does not have any effect. Contact Amazon and get it fixed.
