I have just searched for "blackadder" and "sherlock". Both these are available in the Netflix app (which I have installed on my Fire TV). No results were found, except for the purchase options from Amazon Video - ie nothing from Netflix despite the fact it is included in my subscription. Searching in the Netflix app does find these series.
Is Amazon deliberately excluding Netflix from the search results where they sell the same movie or series?
Although I love my FireTV, as a UK buyer I'm finding more and more problems, enough for me to consider dumping my Fire TV sticks in favour of a Roku stick, despite the fact I prefer the Fire TV interface. This is probably the last straw.
I have never seen a "Basic Edition" on sale in the UK. I'm not using one. I'm only browsing UK content.
Actually I have several fire TV versions all with the latest software version as shown:
Fire Stick 1st Generation Fire OS 18.104.22.168 (587444820)
Fire Stick 1st Generation with voice remote Fire OS 22.214.171.124 (587444820)
Fire Stick 2nd Generation with Alexa voice remote Fire OS 126.96.36.199 (587444320)
Fire TV generation 2 (I have two of these) Fire OS 188.8.131.52 (587444320)
all of these have the same problem.
But all is not as it seems.
I have checked other content that is offered for sale on Amazon Video and is also on Netflix, and Fire TV correctly shows the Netflix offerings.
What seems to be happening for Sherlock, is that there are some episodes denoted Season 0, Episode 1, 2 and 3 that are only available on Amazon Video. It is not obvious that there are other seasons and episodes that are available on Netflix. It has an option to "Buy Episode 1" and "Buy Season 0" and "More Ways to Watch" but none of these mention Netflix.
If however, I go into "Seasons and Episodes" and then browse across to Season 1, it does list Netflix.
So this is more a problem of poor usability design than deliberately missing out Netflix listings. When selecting Sherlock from the search results, it is not possible to see that there are episodes on Netflix, without delving deeper. So, when browsing for something free to watch on either Amazon Prime or Netflix, I usually wouldn't notice that these hidden seasons or episodes existed.
It should be made more clear. When searching for a series, it really should show if any seasons or Episodes are available on Netflix (or on Amazon Prime for that matter). At the very least this information should be provided under the "More ways to watch" button.
I have the same problem, and I bought my Fire Stick 4K in the US.
Has anyone found a solution yet?
