At the moment I can see the ads for shows on amazon and netflix - but that is all. My remote will not "speak" to my fire stick. I cannot go home, it stops in the middle of programs, blanks out sound intermittently, It starts back up unexpectedly about hour later but only for a few minutes. It will not stream anything. I don't want to watch TV on my computer. From other forums I h ave read - this seems to be happening to many others. When will this be fixed - or are you waiting for everyone to update to Alexa?
1. Fire menu > Settings > Device > Restart; if that doesn’t work, then try
2. Fire menu > Settings > Device > Reset to Factory Defaults
If you think you’ll only have one chance to get into the menu, then go straight to option 2. This will make the Fire Stick like new again. Unfortunately, that means you’ll lose your apps and settings. You’ll need to re-connect to your network, re-register your device, and re-download any apps.
I have too and it is infuriating. It has worked well until now. Now the remote won't talk to the Firestick and I replaced the batteries, thinking that was it. It worked briefly, for an evening and then is stuck again.
Do you have the app installed on a smartphone? If so try that. If you can get to "Settings" then try going to Remotes and add a new remote. This puts the FireTV device into search mode and should enable it to find your (existing) remote. Then just delete the original remote entry.
