In 2017 day after thsnksgiving it was on sale for 99 dollars at bestbuy. Maybe this time will be some sale also. If not still a good deal.
I can just ebay it or tradein the old 2017 version. But bestbuy is only giving 25 dollars. Its old but still.
Or amazon tradein. But its not listed on amazon tradein website. Maybe its still the latest model. Maybe after the new one comes out on 31st the 2017 model will be listed. HDX 8.9 from 2013 still gets 30 dollars. So 2017 fire hd 10 should be at least 40 or 50. Or if I ebay what is a good starting price. 50 dollars?

Ok, 2017 fire hd 10 is finally listed for tradein. But only 30 I am surprised. 2013 hdx 8.9 is also 30. 2017 should be more.
Contact Amazon to let them know how they should be doing it. :)
Price used but sound, working 8.9" HDX models on the auction sites, they sometimes command substantial prices as a lot of people still consider those the best tablets Amazon has produced. HD 10" devices are a dime a dozen used.
If you can buy a new HD 10" for $150, used ones might sell for $50 reasonably, so a trade in has to be much lower as they don't take the trade ins as charity.

No. New is 150. So used is 75 not 50. Half at least should be. So amazon should be 50 at least. And 64gb should be more. There is no separate listing for 32 vs 64gb. I have 32gb. But still no mention of gb just says fire hd10 7th gen.
If you sell something at a garage sale - even if practically new, you're lucky to get 10% of the purchase price. Electronic devices just don't demand much on the open market because, as JP said, they're a dime a dozen. They change too quickly!

People habitually overvalue their used devices and their condition as well.
For my wife's use I buy refurbished (by the maker) business laptops for around $200 that sold three years prior for close to a grand, as an example. Which means they probably got less than $100 as trade ins at end of lease. This might not be for everyone, I'm a computer tech so I know what I am doing and how to fix stuff if it goes boomf and how to test components in a new toy like that..
My main cell phone cost me $200 refurbished and two years earlier it sold for around $800 new. So again I doubt whoever sold or traded it in got even $100 for it. And this was a direct sale, not part of a "deal" from a cell carrier where they hide extra cost in your monthly charges.
A thing is worth what people will pay. So sell it open market and you might hit a live one who does not know the value of things. ;)

Exactly, 20 is not bad. Was that at amazon? And 20 for a 2012 device is not bad. Thats why I was saying 2017 should be a lot more. But still 30 is not bad. Or bestbuy is giving 25 for my 2017 hd 10. Plus I have 2 echo dots worth 20 each. So 65 not bad. But I will try ebay first.
I guess so but on ebay there is a fire hd 10 getting 60 in bids right now. So I will try ebay. Garage sales are another beast.
Did you also factor in the 20% off (currently) you'll also get on a new device with trade-in? Even you purchased the new HD 10 for $100, that would effectively be the $50 you said in post #7 should be the minimum Amazon should be offering.
Nevermind I found it. Its not as visible. Fire tablets say 20% off too.
It was 25% less than a month ago when I traded in my 2017 Fire 7 and picked up a 2019 model, so I suspect they may bump up the trade in value again around Thanksgiving.
Went to bestbuy yesterdsy my firehd 10 was only worth 5 bucks. Weird however the others were worth 25. All fire hd 10 and all 32gb. But amazon said 30 bucks. Plus with 20% off a new fire so not bad. So I sent it with UPS today. Only costed 4 bucks for padddibg and box. Not bad.

Huh? Every time I've traded in - the shipping was free! I just downloaded the label (with part to be put inside the box), and either dropped it off in a UPS box or took it to the UPS store up on Dupont Ave.

Shipping is free. But the box is not. And I did not have one at home. Plus I did not want to rig something up. So I just took it to them and paid 3 eighty something for a box and padding.

Only you can decide what a good price would be to sell your gear. Watch existing sales and see what they close at, is what I do.

Also why is the 2017 HD10 not listed on amazon tradein?

I did not hear about the 20% thanks.
Actually tablets are not 20% off I just looked. Only fire tvs.

I believe the OP means he had them pack it at UPS for which they do charge as far as I know.
