We are trying to remove some apps from FreeTime Unlimited and we get a message "No Wi-Fi Connection." This happened on both our Fire tablets. I tried to restart them but the same message occurs or the option to "Remove Unwanted FreeTime Unlimited Items" disappears. Then sometimes it reappears but then the "No Wi-Fi message" appears again. I am connected!

You don't need to be connected to Wi-Fi to remove or block FreeTime Unlimited content. It's easier to remove things offline because downloaded content is all that's listed on the home page.
To remove content downloaded to the tablet from the home page, press the icon until the box pops up that says Remove From Device, press that and wait for the check mark on the bottom left hand corner to disappear. If you want to keep it from showing up at all when connected to Wi-Fi you'll have to block it from the child profile settings > Remove Content > Remove Unwanted FreeTime Unlimited Items.
You can use Remove Unwanted FreeTime Unlimited Items in the child profile settings when offline. It's a list of everything included in FreeTime Unlimited so it takes a while to load. You use that to block things from showing on the home page by putting a padlock on the icons shown there. Choose Search if you know the titles of what you want to block, Remove By Hand if you don't. Reverse the process when you want to unlock something.
Age limits you set for the child profile can also stop things from showing on the home page even if they're not locked.
If you have a family subscription to FreeTime Unlimited and have less than 4 children you might want to create a fake child profile for yourself. I have one where there is no age limit set and nothing is blocked so I can see what's available for the kids and get the titles if I want to unlock some on their tablets.
