I have two devices and both exhibit the same issue where both would randomly turn on either plugged in or not abd in the morning the battery is dead. I have factory reset twice and it doesn't solve the issue. Never had an issue in any of my Android devices
I had the same issue! Amazon's solution was for me to return my 4 month old Kindle Fire for a refurbished one that's doing exactly the same thing! Now I'm irritated that I no longer have a new device on top of the ongoing issue. Don't let them try to exchange, it won't fix the problem. I'm hoping eventually they'll fix the glitch. I've also read that there's a possibility that Amazon might start charging to remove the pop up ads. This would explain why the devices randomly turn on.

Pop up ads are not from Amazon and there's not a lot they could do. Some app you installed is doing that.
You may be conflating those with Amazion's special offers, which do cost to have them removed as devices with them are sold at a discount and you pay the difference in price charged for buying one without from the start.
Only real way to solve your issue is to reset it to factory defaults and carefully load apps on one at a time and let a few days pass to see where the problem child is. Free apps have a habit of making you pay in other ways, such as time and frustration. If you are sideloading ads from other sources, that's the first place I;'d look as those are far more likely to have "surprise party" payloads.
NOTE: I do NOT speak for or represent Amazon in any fashion. This is a customer to customer forum.

I'm still experiencing the issue and it has nothing to do with pop-up ads or any other visible ad. I have Amazon ads removed from my device and when the screen turns on by itself there are no ads or notifications on the screen.
My Fire HD10 would randomly turn on during the night. It seems to have been solved by putting the Fire in airport mode and clearing all background apps. Since I started doing that it has slept peacefully all night. I haven't explored whether one, either airplane mode or clearing background apps, would work by itself.
I just got my Fire HD 8 a few hours ago and it was doing exactly this. It'll be sitting there and randomly turn itself on. I found this thread because I was trying to look for a solution. As far as initial experience with the Fire tablet, this isn't going well.
