I have tried everything that had been suggested but hasn't helped. Battery is fully charged but will only run when plugged in. If I unplug it will stay on for about 30 seconds and then I get a black screen. As soon as I plug back in it works perfectly and turns on by itself.
About all that is left would be to try a factory reset. When you say you've tried everything suggested, it helps to let people know what you *have* tried as people might have suggested you sacrifice a live chicken to the gods of tech or burned some incense in front of a statue of Ganesha (Remover of obstacles in the Hindu religion) and you've done no other action.. :)
So maybe outline what you have done just in case something real got missed?

The problem started when I couldn't get it to stay on at all. I have done the hold on button down for 20 seconds. Hold down for 40 seconds. For a while it would do the optimization on and off for three to four hours. After I went through all of that it finally started working while being plugged in. I had assumed it had just gotten caught in a loop of some sort and was resolved. It was only resolved it I keep it plugged in. If I unplug it turns itself off. It sounds like I need to do a reset but maybe I should try the incense burning if you think that might work. Thanks for the humor. I needed it. Factory reset? I'm on it!
