Fire 8 6th generation with the optimizing problem. I called customer service & went through all the step suggested but to no avail. The Fire was fine until the optimizing system storage started. It had more than 50% when we went to bed & woke to the problem & now it says that the battery is too low & will not charge. I think this system update ruined the battery & it has been a continual problem on not only the fire but the fire sticks as well. It kicks into this loop & it can not be overcome. If Amazon doesn't want to stand behind their products why should we continue to buy them? I have six or so fires right now & this is the first of this type problem but most have been broken by the time they are a couple of years old. This one is just barely 2 years old & just suddenly won't work! Had there been evidence of a problem I could understand but to just suddenly overnight not work makes me know that this is caused by something Amazon has done. Most of us are either out of warranty or otherwise don't have so we will have to replace at our own expense. While the Fires are fairly cheap comparatively it is not going to be cheap if they force you to buy every 2 year when you have taken excellent care of your Fire! They should have a fix for this by now. Look at past posts & you will see what I mean! While I understand things do go bad this seems to me to be targeted & causing problems mainly with ones that can not be replaced!
Gerry P you can not swipe down & get settings because it is stuck on the screen that just says "fire" & under that "Optimizing system storage and applications..... This may take approximately 10 minutes to complete." It goes through the 10 minutes & then reboots & starts over with the same screen!
Mines a fire 7 only 2 months old and it's doing the same I've tried everything you have suggested and it still won't work just going around in circles with it think I'll go back to Kobo at least they fix there problems your service and customer service are s#@t
Contacted support, and they help me fix the problem using following procedure.
Turn off tablet, then press the "volume up" button then "power" and keep pressing both the same time. Boot screen will appear, choose to reset to factory, then reboot. Should get you past the optimizing screen (CARE: ALL DATA WILL BE WIPED OUT).
