My Fire 7 HD Tablet works fine at home connecting to wifi, and often with no problem in many hotels. Occasionally I cannot get past the sign-in for a wifi network. Most recent problem, when completing sign-in, Silk reported that a firewall was preventing connection, but our phones were connected with no problem. More frequently I just get a message that the connection is not secure, with no means to bypass that, and also in cases where phones are connected. Are there security settings for Silk? I had Chrome installed with special instructions, but removed it and set the tablet back to factory defaults. It is my main device when traveling as I can access all services that I need with a small light device as opposed to traveling with my 15.6 inch laptop.
I have this same problem. Just started with fire 10 on two separate trips .Both laptop and phone connect to Hilton Wi-Fi. Fire Silk browser is opened to connect with hotel Wi-Fi and is redirected to completely different site with message "Your internet access is blocked . Firewall or antivirus software may have blocked the connection . " .Fire worked fine at home in between the two trips. I tried the attached instructions with no change . Is there a virus scan offered by amazon? Two separate hotels two cities. I am connected thru my phone hotspot currently troubleshoot ing.
That's nice, but that appears to require an Ethernet line, which most Hotels I have stayed at recently do not offer, only WiFi.
No sir. Doesn't require one. You connect to their WiFi (either open or secure) with the app on your cell phone, it creates your own secure WiFi signal. I setup mine at home so when I'm out and about all I have to do is choose a different WiFi source - this way my tablets, phones, etc have the travel router's SSID saved.
Plus it can be used as a media server and battery charger.
No can opener though...

I am having the same issue. I have tried this method and it does not work for my Kindle. The issue started for me, right after the update. I did a factory reset and re-installed the update. Still having the issue. Has another fix been found?

Hey guys, I just found a solution. If you have iPhone, iPad and android with no problem the hotel ( I know its Hilton) wifi connection, you might solve your problem. Go settings on your device with no problem wifi connection and tap wifi. Then you can see "Hilton Honor" and "i" with a blue circle on the right. Tap this "i". You can check IP adress and DNS, remember them. Then, go back your kindle with wifi PROBLEM, go wifi setting and long tap "hilton honor" and tap "modify network" and tap "IP settings static" and type the IP adress and DNS what you remembered from iPad or etc... and tap SAVE after that, you may connect wifi with your kindle. The problem is your iPad ( or the device you copied IPadress and DNS) internet connection may slower. Here is the solution, go the iPad wifi settings and FORGET the wifi once, and reconnect "Hilton honor" and type your last name and room number again. I hope its helpful for you who have the same annoying problem.

Just wanted to provide some feedback. Used the same instructions for 5th generation Fire at Hilton. No problem with my latest generation Firehd, but received same "firewall-antivirus" screen noted at beginning of thread for the 5th gen. Used to work fine at Hilton, but no more.
