I also have that status of Offline on my HD10. It has updated successfully to the latest OS firmware that adds the Show support. What version are you referencing that caused you tablets to be affected?
In the Alexa app, Alexa Devices, my HD 8 shows as offline and it also shows the purple crescent moon icon, indicating the tablet has Do Not Disturb On. HD 8 tablet settings will not let you modify the Do Dot Disturb setting, as the icon appears to be disabled. Can't Drop In if Do Not Disturb is on.
I chatted with Amazon CS, and they told me that it shows "Offline" because a Fire Tablet cannot be to the multi music group as only an Alexa device like the regular Echo, Echo Show and Echo Dot can be added.
This not being able to group tablets is a big bummer. I have tablets in several rooms of my house and wanted to group them for both music and smart home functions. Hopefully this is a future update to allow. Love show mode except that it’s missing this feature and drop in. Other than that it’s been excellent. Thanks for calling and confirming with customer service for us
I have the same issue with Alexa reporting offline on my 2017 FireHD8 (running 188.8.131.52) but also no show mode. How do I enable it? There is no option in the notification pull down &asking Alexa doesn't recognise my device
All of my 3 tablets show offline as well. At least one of them is up to date on updates. I can locate it through the web, browse internet, call etc, but it shows offline in the app. I'm not trying to create a group, just to check on a timer remotely or to set do not disturb etc.
The app however does show the commands from the tablets. Like I see "the timer set for 10 min", but cannot see how much time has left (says it's offline).
I am able to connect via video call, call and messaging between my two kindles, my dot, and the echos. Although it is a work around, if you call your own contact all devices linked under your amazon account will ring. I can call from my bathroom if i ask alexa to call my own contact, and it will notify all phones, echos, and fires in the house. Thats the only downside to it. Messages will appear on the same side of screen and not in conversation style. You can still call specific echos in rooms but if you're trying to call a fire it will ring all devices.
I have the same problem, gen 6 hd8 shows offline in the Alexa app. I have scoured the Amazon site for a fix. A dozen or so people have asked about it but Amazon refuses to comment.
the same problem (Screenshot 1 and 2) with my Hdx 8.9 (4. Gen.). But there are no recognizable problems by using communication (Screenshot 3) and other Alexa features, smart home skills etc. My other devices (Echo, Echo Spot, Echo Show and Vobot) always are shown as online in the Alexa App. My Hd 8 (7. Generation) mostly is shown as online (but sporadically as offline); nevertheless it ist working without problems too. All this seems to be a secret of Alexa.

By the way: The duplicate links in the German Bücher App (Screenshot 4) illustrates another problem that couldn't
I have the same problem. I have 4 fire tablets, except one of my tablets actually says it is online. I cannot figure out what the difference is or how I was able to get it to display as online. I simply connected all the tablets one at a time the same way and this one says online. It is frustrating.
I have the same issue with my HD8. No voice recognition, offline (not offline on internet.) Alexa just seems dead. I downloaded the Alexa app on my BlackBerry KeyOne as an experiment. It worked perfectly. Showed online but could not record my voice as it is not a recognized device. Amazon needs to fix this. I will not buy anymore Alexa devices until they do. I have deleted Alexa app from my BlackBerry and have gone back to Google assistant.
