hi there, I am setting up a kindle fire 7 for my 93 year old grandmother! I have a “child” account set up for her without ANY apps aside from the game she loves to play. I am trying to make this as simple as possible for her. I would love it if there were no interruptions or screensavers or sleep mode, but I can only seem to be able to adjust the sleep time, not disable it. I have it plugged in 24/7 and have disabled the internet. Do I have any options to streamine this and make it simple, always on/assesible? Thank you!!
Also, you mentioned it's "plugged in 24/7". You should be aware that's not a recommended way to use tablets. While there is built-in coding to prevent it from overcharging, when the device is in use, it should be unplugged. Using such devices while plugged in results in inadvertent yanks and even "micro-tugs" of the cord. That, in turn, results in the USB port coming loose, preventing it from being charged at all. Depending on the frequency of use and how it's physically handled, you could be looking at needing to replace it due to a loose port as soon as a year.
While some repair shops might offer to resolder a port back in place, since Amazon doesn't design Kindles and Fires to be serviced (Amazon doesn't repair them, nor are there any authorized places that do), just attempting to open the back can damage it (not to mention voids any warranty or extended protection plan).
